Is the cable or IEM heavy?

Since the casing is made from stainless steel, it is a bit heavier than others in this price range. The cable due to its robust construction is definitely heavier than any other stock IEM cable I’ve had experience with, so if you plan on engaging in physical activity, I strongly recommend routing the cable over your ears.

Due to the rotatable nature of the nozzle section, I found fitting the FDX1 in this manner to be quite easy and comfortable, and not only does this reduce cable noise, but it’s less likely you’ll lose your seal.

I never tried that since the over ear approach worked fine for me, and I wear glasses. It was easy to tell, though, when I did initially wear the cable down, the weight of the cable caused it to bounce a little when I moved, thus tugging at the shells. I don’t think it’s a pain or fatigue issue, it’s what gives the best overall performance.

Great review!
Can I check how is the isolation on the HA FDX1?
And how's the bass quantity? I've no doubt that its timbre and quality of bass is excellent, but I'm more inclined to some heavier bass quantity. I don't need it to be basshead levels, but I would prefer something not too anaemic bass wise.
TIA!

@baskingshark also want to hear the answer to the bass question. And also can compare the fx1 to any of the iems in my signature?
baskingshark
Actually @RikudouGoku , the KXXS bass FR looks similar to the FDX 01. Do u find the bass on the KXXS lacking? Of course graphs don't tell the full story but it may be a good rough gauge. I suspect the bass on FDX 01 won't hit the bassiness of your TFZs though.

@baskingshark, I find the bass to be very satisfying. By no means is this a bass head’s dream, but the FDX1 gets down to the bottom octave with a satisfying rumble that is defined.

Great review! Thanks! I particularly like how you describe how the IEM handles specific tracks. Very useful!
One comment about congested macro dynamics: I have been using a modded FD02 for 6 months and I found that the cable has a significant influence on the handling of busy tracks. Described that in detail in the FD01 thread. Should be applicable to the FDX1 too.

@baskingshark the bass on the kxxs is perfect for me so I wouldn't want something with lesser, I would be ok with a little bit more bass though but not necessarily

@baskingshark I will wait until the updated tanchjim oxygen to decide what I want, maybe I be in time for 11/11
baskingshark
@RikudouGoku what's different on the updated tanchjim oxygen other than the nozzle? From the HA FDX1 thread, the users there seem to like the FDX1 more than the tanchjim oxygen.
RikudouGoku
@baskingshark Well I like the overall style of the oxygen more than the FDX1 ( except for the short nozzle, so If they can fix that and get a better fit then the new oxygen might be more to my liking)

Thank you for a great review, but which music genres do you think the FDX1 sounds best, is it good with progressive metal, like Dream Theater, Haken, etc.?
jwbrent
I’m not familiar with the progressive metal genre, but I do think the FDX1 works well with black metal.
