Hi HTSkywalker, they are pretty different cans. Ananda being an open back & planar magnetic can.
The D7200 is the more practical & convenient can, being easier to drive & noise isolating by design. It has better bass impact, punch & slam for sure (thanks to the biocellulose dynamic drivers). I think it looks better & is built better too (pretty much wood, leather & metal).
But pretty everywhere else, the Ananda is better. It is more balanced in tuning, slightly north of neutral (the D7200 is a little V shaped). More airy, spacious & with better imaging. The mids are more central in the mix, it also has slightly tighter & more controlled lows.
Both have flush 3.5mm ports for easy cable rolling & both can produce the rumbles in the sub bass but I find the Ananda to be even more comfortable (even though the ear cups don't swivel laterally).
Generally the Ananda is a bit more expensive than the D7200 but I would recommend the Ananda more.
I hope that helps.
How does the bass eq-ability compare to the Fostex? I’m looking for an upgrade to my EMU Teak while still being able to have absurd amounts of bass on tap.
Hello Sayed2020
Thanks for the insight, received my Ananda yesterday and did a some primary testing. What you described above is very accurate but the Ananda rocks especially with Classical music, soundstage and details, The soundstage is very tall, build quality is not superior but acceptable. Immediately switched the included cables to a Focal cable and not going back though.
