Don't buy from Amazon. The Canadian dollar is quite low now in comparison to the US dollar so one can save a lot of money by shopping from a Canadian on-line retailer. The price I listed is $130 CND, and what I paid for the E3.

Nice review!
What is the OTG cable you have there?
The Sound Blaster Recon3D USB also had a full software suite for OS X, and was also an underrated product, but happily the E-series is gaining some traction. The E3 seems almost like a goldilocks device... Except I wish it had the digital output of the E5, and/or the Dolby Decoding certified optical input of the Recon3D USB.
I can detect frequency holes but I've never been able to estimate frequency numbers... How did you land on an 11 kHz shelf boost?

@Evshrug The On The Go cable is included with the E3. It is basically a male MicroUSB to female USB. I suspect the OTG cable has a built in USB control chip (much like Apple's Camera Connect Kit) as it is needed for iOS and Android devices to connect. As for the 11KHz shelf boost, coincidently I add an 11KHz 0.5dB shelf boost to add a touch of sparkle when I listen to my M4U 1 and HD598; With the E3 I don't need to at all.

Oh yeah, forgot about the Recon3D USB, but that technically was part of the headset package yes?
