As usual very nice and detailed review. Sounds all great (besides the battery life)....I wish they came out with this one 3 months earlier...
Only hard to understand they still using vintage Micro USB.
One question remains for all DAP makers: Why the heck you all don't understand that "artist album" is a much more important tag then "artist"?

Nice review!....HiFiChris!

How does it compare to the Luxury and Precision "Classic Edition" (or LP5)?....That's the one that sits between the wood finished housing in either gold or silver face?

.....these are my current favorite.

Nice Review...
This "artist album" thing.... does that mean you can't go to Eagles then click on Hotel California to play the album, or is this something else?  Just curious as I really like this player.  thanks...

This picture should explain it: http://cdn.head-fi.org/4/48/483d0455_P1030693.jpeg

(The CD, "Yello - Touch Yello", contains some tracks with feature/guest artists that only appear on one/two tracks. If the "Album Artist" tag was supported, only "Yellow" should be displayed in "Artist" view.)

Nice review and everything is 100% correct except for the statement ""BBE is a basically an adjustable loudness" incorrect.

You need to read what BBE is and listen more to what it is doing to the music when activated. It's not just a loud button/option. Spend more time listening to it on and off.

Alright, it is true that it doesn't only change the amplitude but also the phase of the signal.

Yes. In addition the BBE does add more echo, type reverb, forwardness to the music. It's best when very little is applied, I never go past +3 to not promote coloration but most often it's left turned off as it does not sound natural beyond +3.

Does it have the ability to browse by composer? That's essential functionality for classical music listeners, and it's surprising how most DAP makers get it wrong. The only ones that do it right are the iPod/iPhone, the Onkyo DP-X1 and its Pioneer XDP-100R sibling. The Plenue D doesn't and that was a deal-breaker for me.

No, it doesn't. That's why a really good folder structure is highly recommended for any audio player, as this is in most cases the much more convenient way to browse for your music.
I didn't have a good folder and tagging structure some years ago for my digital CD copies and had to learn the hard way to do it correctly (I ripped and tagged more than 1000 CDs during three full days on an extended weekend - you can imagine that this was no pleasant thing to do and that my CD drive was also quite hot after this number but fortunately didn't malfunction).

That's why I would recommend t have a good tagging and folder structure from the very beginning.
