Just got mine and I was immediately struck by the incredible soundstage/image separation!
EDIT: The RU7 has me selling off my delta-sigma gear, it strikes an amazing balance between R2R smoothness while retaining the details of traditional delta-sigma DACs.
@o0genesis0o the line out is quite decent (do remember to adjust the volume when toggling between LO and PO if not the ears might get blown), but even without line out, the 400mW from the 4.4mm output is more than enough for most transducers (other than extreme outliers).
On the go I prefer not to lug along another portable amp, so generally I haven't used the LO much.
Great review. Short & concise. Managed to get my hands on both the RU7 and the L&P W4. Both a marked step up from the wonderful Questyle M15 in every way. They have individual characteristics that set them apart. I prefer the RU7 . The W4 is superb for it's technicalities but is a bit souless for my tastes. The RU7 is weightier in sound and far more "organic" . I could see why both will be endgame depending on your library etc. To be honest there is far more innovation & excitement going on with technology and sound development in dongles moving forward than chi fi iems currently. Intrigued to see what happens next with the Uber dongle scene.
