Awesome review!  I used to use the CA Nova too with my i5, just recently replaced by the iBasso IT03.  If I were to mention the goods that I love about this DAP, they will be the sexy form factor, engaging warm sound, powerful amp section, and the continuous support coming from its manufacturer.

Thank you! I really do like the look of the i5. It is a very good looking unit. I found myself just starting at the shape as I listened. Good straightfor UI, excellent sound characteristics, and a top-notch great looking build. Quite the unit.

Interesting to connect the i5 to an amp (A3) which has less output than the i5 itself. Makes as much sense to me as telling that there is a difference between HiRes-files and ordinary 16/44.1-files... 

Well, I test the gear I have. Which isn't much. As for the difference in sounds, I prefaced that by stating that I thought it was the sampling rate which made a difference. I do stand by my statement that I heard a difference, due to the rates noted. Whether it was placebo or documented, I cannot tell since I do not have the gear set up to determine sound "qualities." I will leave it at that.

And I would respectfully point out that the A3 has marginally more power than the i5.
