I bought these sight unseen when they first came out. At $1000 of course I wanted to love them...however, after a couple of months of listening extensively I came to the realization that they didn't cut it for me. Beautiful, well made, but I agree with a reviewer on some other site (I think it was the Verge) that these are a bit too much like a Beats on steroids for me. So I sold them and the new owner loves them.

The problem is obvious when you look at it's frequency response. It's got a significant bass hump that extends upwards way too far and finally dips at 500Hz which is what creates the boominess and 'beats on steriods' effect. If the hump would dip between 200-300Hz that would be a good start, and the most significant in making it a better headphone.

I fully agree with DMS, worst headphone (in this price range) ever.

@fsacks I'd say the "Beats on steroirds" is reasonably accurate for the P9 is probably what Beats would've been had they taken the audiophile approach.
