When using with enough power from a 4.4mm this IEM is excellent. Using it 3.5mm it is poor. Waiting to see a review from someone who has used it with a good amp/DAC , 4.4mm with some power and decent tips. It's a different beast when used that way.

I personally think a dongle is enough spec-wise, it honestly performed well to me with my setup. Maybe the bass will get tighter with more power.

I would be interested if you get a chance to listen again to the BGVP NS9, how it sounds when used with some more powerful sources. I have the LG V30, SamsungS9 plus and the excellent Sony Xperia 5ii, phones and only the V30 when used with a double adapter to trick it into Quad Dac runs them with reasonably energy. Through the 4.4mm of my iFi hip-dac, at high gain, this IEM sings. Not your fault if BGVP sent out a 3.5mm set. It's clear BGVP have QC and set variability problems, so are letting both reviewers and purchasers down.
