You got it mixed up a bit. HD800 are more joyless. They are studio monitoring and mixing headphones, made to be as dry and joyless as possible in order to dissect and analyze the sound of the recordings. For a certain section of the audiophile community HD800 are a Revelation. These individuals are pedantic, for them the musical sound and enjoyment of music are secondary concerns. They are primarily interested in super detail and analysis of recordings; they get excited when they can find a minor fault or peculiarity like a musician's chair making a creaking sound.
T1 are more euphonic than HD800. They represent better balance and compromise between accuracy and musicality.

I'm currently quite joyed listening to mine.
It's a shame you don't enjoy them.Maybe when you're in a better mood.......
BUT....Alas you don't OWN them!
I'm sure your expert enough to review them though.
