Its refreshing to hear about someones more real world journey with a new headphone. Your experience is something i can really relate with lots of hifi i've bought over the years, not just HPs.

great work thank you and i'm very keen to hear them for myself. :):)

Interesting review.

Revolt: 12 SEP: take out the dampening pads. Great sound, like I remember fondly.
The Borg strikes: Company director "Mr. Weidemann recommended me that I should take my time to get my ears used to the new sound."
Assimilation 17 SEP: I was bad to question the new sound. It's good, the most perfect, revealing, absolute sound I've ever heard! I want one!.

A little humor at your expense rasmushorn. No offense intended.
Good review.

I think one of the reasons they went with 32 ohm is to introduce a wireless T1/T5p in the future.

In terms of cons, I'd be less concerned about the "bass impact" and more concerned about the midrange timbre. Definitely something to consider with this headphone.

I listen to a lot of Tool, Neurosis and a lot of post rock. Some of the albums are not that well recorded (while some are!). To say the least. Would you still recommend these headphones? thanks!

More of thought than an opinion having not heard them but by removing the damping pad, aren't you practically just turning the T1.3 back into the T1.2?

@kdbur There are more changes than just the absorber. Driver, pads, and cup damping have all been tweaked.

@rasmushorn - do you do any gaming?

Thank you for the review!

@vladpetric Sorry, I am not really a gamer. Or not a gamer requiring high-fidelity headphones for the purpose. :)

@kdbur As @SSL443 wrote the T1.3(without the dampening) is not the same as the T1.2.
I had the same thought but there are a lot of other changes between the two models. The T1.3 without the dampening pad does sound brighter and has more sparkle, but also some unwanted resonances that will give you listening fatigue after a short while. I had the impression that there was better resolution without the pads, but I think detail and resolution is perceived as a result of treble and upper mids presence. You will not lack resolution and transparency with the pads in their place. After a while you will not perceive these headphones as dark. It is a fault of mine not to consider the time it takes to adjust to a different tuning. (And I think many head-fiers often do the same mistaken judgements when listening to gear at meets or in a store...)
These headphones are not intended to be used without the pads. They are tuned to sound the best with them.

@cgb3 I get it - and I think it is fun too :-D
I have been using the same gear for too long. Back in the old days I changed gear more often and I would never do the mistake of not spending some time with a headphone to get used to it.

Thanks for the review and it seems this might be a worthy upgrade after the T1.1... Loving mine since 2013 thanks to a member of this community!)

I had these for a weekend and decided to return them. As much as I do like big bass, this was too much. Wayyyy too much. I decided to upgrade from 880 Pro and go to the flagship models. I read this and other pieces all over the net for guidance. I knew coming in it was going to be different. I wanted to like it, but it wasn't meant to be for me.

I prefer headphone OTL valve amplifiers, which gets its better performance with high impedance headphones. And this one is not suitable for them, so it's out of consideration. I'll keep T1.1. Definitely.

some other reviews absolutely trashed it.
