@Holypal - Sometimes you have to ask yourself when enough is enough. The Amiron ticked all of the boxes for me without being excessively priced. Thanks for the read!

Interesting review. I had the DT 880s and the T1s, sold them both as they were too airy and bright. Maybe the Beyer house sound wasn't for me. but these seems like I will like them.

@Gamergtx260 - Amiron is quite different from those. I didn't care for them either, but the Amiron, to me, has a fuller sound and is more versatile. See if you can demo them somewhere.

See, this isn't fair. I've had my eyes on the DT 1990 Pro, but now I'm just confused. I wonder how they compare...

@Giupy - I didn't get the 1990 to review side-by-side. I've heard that the 1990 is more like the old Beyer tuning though, with that stronger treble emphasis. If that's the case, I would stick with the Amiron personally as it has just enough sparkle for my taste. More would be fatiguing.

@SoundApprentice Hmm, that does sound like it makes sense. I'm one of those people that enjoy the sort of dark Audeze sound, so it would make sense that the Amiron would be more up my alley than the DTs. I didn't really love the 770s or the 990s, but I appreciated them for what they were and what they were trying to do. Hopefully I'll find somewhere to audition them. I've made it a bit of a point to not buy stuff before listening to it.

Thank you for your reply :)

@Giupy - It sounds like we have similar tastes. The LCD-X was my main can for over a year. The Amiron is more lively in the treble, but just about everything is compared to Audezes. I feel like Amiron's mids have more clarity and are pushed a bit more in the upper region where the LCD falls off, and bass is relatively comparable. The LCD may have a touch more sub bass impact. But, add in price and comfort, the Amiron wins hands down.

@SoundApprentice I totally understand what you mean. We live in a world of exaggerated prices for quality products. It's so bad that I'm thinking "Huh, 600$ really isn't that much...", but we shouldn't be here. On the comfort side of things, the Audeze were for quite good for my large ears and I never really did mind the weight.

The aesthetics of the Amiron aren't really my thing. I've always enjoyed wood cups, hence the LCD-XC that I absolutely loved, just something about them, but yeah. At this point I'm kinda' sold on them. Just need to convince the wife that I need them :)

$600 seems like a bargain! TBH, somehow these slipped under my radar, but damn, now I want a pair! Great review!!

Thank you for the very informative review. I've got the T1 Gen2s which I like very much having owned the T90s. The T1.2s fixed everything I didn't like about the T90s. I thought about holding out for the Amirons but worried that they might have been too dark sounding. Sounds like they have struck the perfect balance though.

@SoundApprentice: Please disclose (1) whether this is a sponsored review, and (2) whether you (a) received them for free or under other special terms from Beyerdynamic or (b) paid full retail price for them.

@ZoNtO I don't do pay-to-play. I have a background in journalism and always tell it how it is, or in the case of audio reviews, as my ears hear it. I received no compensation for this review and did not get the product for free. I had the Amiron for 30 days to demo and decided whether I wanted to write a review or not. I am expected to pay retail for the unit.

@Mark R-S I don't think you'll find the Amiron too dark, it still has the Beyer sparkle, it is just more balanced than I have personally heard before.

Is this a sponsored review? Did you pay full retail for the Amiron?
Reads like an infomercial .....

Hey @joeexp, sorry you feel that way. The Amiron is the first headphone in a long time that I really got excited about, because it suits my style and preferences incredibly well. If you were a regular to my website or Instagram I think you'd be less inclined to think I am a paid shill.  Also, if you had taken the time to read the comment right above yours, you'd see I already addressed your questions to another reader. But, just to restate, no this isn't a "sponsored" review. Beyerdynamic North America contacted me through my TheSoundApprentice Instagram account asking if I would like to demo the Amiron for 30 days at no charge. I was not obligated to write a review for them, the only terms were that I had to return the demo unit within 30 days of receiving it, otherwise I would be charged MSRP. I did not receive any compensation or discounts or free products from Beyerdynamic. In fact, they sent me two invoices as a reminder to return the demo unit on time. I did not purchase the demo unit at the time due to personal financial reasons, but I intend to add the Amiron to my collection in the future. It is just a darn good headphone and I think you'll see that a lot of other reviewers and users feel the same way. It is definitely different from past models. Cheers!

Soundapprentice, thank you so much for the review.  I own the Amiron's and couldn't agree more with your asessment.  I hear a lot that they are still too much like the T90's, ugly and the highs are too much.  I find them perfect.  Just what I need when plugged into a hi-res live show.  I power them with my Audeze Deckard and run tidal and flac thru my Imac and they are wonderful.  They aren't my daily drivers, but do get a fair bit of listening time in my listening room.  Really enjoy your reviews...
