Excellent review! I agreed with most things in terms of sound but the treble. No idea if it's because of my younger ears, but I found the region around 8kHz region to be kinda harsh and splashy, and makes vocals sibilant. I got a good seal as well. I drove it out of my phone and my Magni and still has the harsh sibilance going on.
I had to EQ the 8kHz down on PowerAMP about 3-4 decibels to find them to my liking.
No disrespect/discredit to you though. I guess I'm pretty treble sensitive.
@Feilong4 Thank you. I'm also very sensitive to sibilance but I'm really having a hard time hearing any from my iDSD or Z2. But some other DAPs and DACs I've tested with, some of them did sibilance. I had a section about this, yes, here:
"I’ve also come across with people, saying Rosie can be sibilant sometimes, I personally tested it with aggressive sources and yes, DAPs with prominent upper mids can sometimes cause sibilance, but this is only a synergy issue. I highly recommend you to combine Rosie with a warm, lush device. Tamed upper mids would also help to achieve maximum efficiency."
Thanks my friend.
I usualy listen to Rosie in zero bass. It was especially very compatible with the Hm901s.
The Hm901d controls Rosie's fast-paced metal music recordings.
