Holy God I need my set to arrive right about now. So excited, I love love love planar clarity.
I am wondering though, what keeps it from being truly TOTL?

Taking KSE1500 as my reference, Timeless fell short on overall smoothness + crispness balance which is something very tricky to achieve. Most of the time you will get IEMs that get either one of those two and excel at one element, KSE1500 is TOTL because it can handle both equally with ease. On top of that, KSE1500 airy presentation is unmatched by anything I have ever listened to, effortless dynamics which is so soothing there's zero chances of getting fatigue. Magnetic Planars are not known for being airy as it seems they are more attuned to clean lines. Another thing is that KSE1500 Micro Details presentation are better nuanced yet remaining realistic. Some of the most clinical IEMs I have tried quite capable of surgical precisions too, but they are more likely to sound a bit sterile and dry, not with KSE1500

Does it image like a typical planar does? Like how the instruments have hyper-clear defined individual "rooms".

@Jmop sorry for now I am stuck with the stock Timeless rubber tips as it suits my taste and comfort perfectly. I have no reasons to switch to anything else for now. My SpinFits are only used on ER4SR/ER2XR. Never tried Spiral Dots

Oh! Very nice review. Can you tell me about sound isolation or sound leakage, does it sounds fine in noisy environment or can it bother people around?
Seems like it might be nice pair of iem for metal, quite fast bass and good separation. Aside classic bm, how does it handle latest blut aus nord or deathspell omega, akhlys tracks, on most of the iem that I checked recently it was hard to sound correctly for them. If you listen to them or don't mind to check them, can share how its sounds on timeless? Thanks!

@nihil23 Thanks. 7hz is also great for the likes of Russian Circles, ISIS, Pelican or even SUNN O))).
The isolation depends on what tips being used. The one I use now which is the stock rubber sized M, offers decent isolation that allows me to use Timeless walking around town and enjoy my music, not as great as Etymotic 45db isolation but not a slacker either

Great review Andy! I couldn't wait for your feedback on these and grabbed a set for my wife. Have not burned them in. Finding the upper mids/lower treble a little sharp which may well soften over time. Also totally agree that tips are crucial. Have not found the optimum set yet (and the missus is not one for repeated testing!!!) so settled on the white silicones for now. When I tried foams, it took too much from the treble.

Overall, like you, quite impressed with these - especially for the price. Very precise, technical IEMs but still deliver the music in a compelling way.
