I have owned about ten Duals. I think they are quite nice - especially at their price. I had several 12 series Duals. Totally worth fixing up. Just stay away from Grado cartridges - they hum.

I vote Technics with an upgraded tonearm. But that is just my humble opinion.

I have built both. THe JDS is much easier to do, but, therefore, you don't learn as much.

I have yet to find a good, budget way of doing this. I tried an Ion and returned it after ripping one 7" record. It sounded awful.

I do not love to cook, but I have been the sole chef in my house for nine years of marriage. On the plus side, I just bought a rotisserie for the purpose of making whole chickens. I make meat dishes and non-meat mains fairly well, but sides are my downfall.

Mine has been just buying Grados. Without going wood, they all look the same.

If you are just looking for volume from your television, then yes.

I have always been disappointed with headphone bass as well, but it was never the volume or the frequency, it was always the lack of the room (usually a problem in speaker setups) made the bass lifeless to my ears.

If I understand you correctly, you are trying to drive headphones with the RCA outs on your TV? If so, then yes, you need an amp.

I got it pretty close to $15 doing it myself. But I have a local shop that sells everything by the chip.

I voted yes because I am interested in how others store records. Although if I sell off enough, I may not have that problem anymore.

I don't know how they come up, but they do come up in the restock section.
