Rotary Switches
Will look up if the Grayhill I ordered doesn't work out. The 71 Series was only $20 or so; which is nicer to my wallet than $70-ish.- afxdave

Rotary Switches
Thank you for the response. I ended up calling Grayhill (who were very polite and helpful) who told me about rotational torque. Turns out Electroswitch doesn't publish numbers for them, but Grayhill does. The thing is that the rotational torque is a range since the switches can come in a number...- afxdave

Rotary Switches
I'm working on a selector switch for a friend's mixer. Right now it has a Grayhill 44 Series 2 pole, 6 position. His complaint is that it's too "heavy" when turned. I'm sure this has to do with the military spec. explosion-proof quality of the Grayhill. The thing is that the quality of the...- afxdave

A best of Slayer?
My vote goes for "South of Heaven" as my favorite album. It presents itself as a complete piece of music from beginning to end. As far as individual Slayer song; I remain on the fence between "War Ensemble" from Seasons in the Abyss, and "Angel of Death" from Reign in Blood. -
What's your "reference" song?
Fleetwod Mac - "Dreams" It's a very intricate recording with lots of detail to be appreiciated. The bass is also very well recorded by maintaining a decent level relative to the other instruments. -
"Rather Ripped" is Rather Good (Thank you, Sonic Youth)
"Jams Run Free" is my song. -

Metallica's "Enter Sandman" Has Been Used During Interrogation Of Detainees!? What??
The inmate's are all probably Metallica fans and know "the black album" marks the beginning of their musical decline. This is why it is toture. -
Joy Division - 25 years ahead of their time?
Joy Division recordings emphasize the style of the music. There's a very hollow and dry tone to all their music. On Closer, there are almost no cymbal crashes and all the songs are very mechanical in their structure. I think that with Joy Division; they weren't good musicians, and certainly not... -
Where to get 50-75 or 120 ohm adaptor?
So really, it's just an inline, fixed attenuator for the headphone since the impedance is fixed with the magnet. Seems like it would be easy to pull off. -
Where to get 50-75 or 120 ohm adaptor?
Sorry to be the dum-dum on the thread, but what's the adapter for? Is this to match the impedance of the headphone with the output impedance of the amplifier? -
1/4" Phone Connector Shootout
I've been accumulating a variety of 1/4" phone connectors in anticipation of a community experiment. The concept is simple: to find the best 1/4" phone connector based on sound and build construction. My intention is to have this be restricted to only HD600 users (maybe HD650 also, or other...- afxdave
