3rd Annual Austin, Texas Spring Meet - March 2nd, 2013
I have at least 5 extension chords available to bring, but no powerstrips. I don't think I'll bring any gear, as it is my first meet and I'd rather not have to worry about keeping up with gear, and the big Wilson's don't travel very easily.- Acrog

My Music Server!
I have started making a similar system for my classical music, and have to say it is time consuming, but rewarding. The experience on my PC does not seam to be as polished as using frontrow, but on my iPod classic, which lacks a good default way to browse classical, the organization is amazing... -

New RAID Server is online
Nice build. I like the clean layout of your desk, and the black and wood colors. Have fun ripping those cd's. One question though, is why did you go for both a raid 1 and a raid 5 setup? Is the raid 5 for just music, or everything but the operating system? If all you have on the raid 1...- Acrog

Dazed & Confused: Need some advice on good value pick between 200-400
The hd600's are recomended time and time again as a 'do it all' phone that scales well with upgraded cables/amps. They do require some juice to run though, and they are open. I would second the D2000, or even D5000 if you can find a deal on them.- Acrog

How do I check safe headphone volumes?
If you have a db meter: find a shoe box and cut two holes in the sides cut third hole for the db meter mic set headphones to the level you are using them at, then place them on the box and see how load the scale reads. If you don't have a db meter, but your can's are open, you should be...- Acrog

MP3 Quality???
If you want the best quality, use apple lossless or wav rips from the cd. There is a limit to the sound an ipod can put out, it's 16bit 44.1khz, = 1411kbps.- Acrog

The more I listen the less bass I need!?
I've played bass in several large orchestras and do appreciate a presence of the low end. But when performing, I listen to the low end for other reasons then when I just sit down to relax. You have to pay attention to tuning and listen to the sections around you. On stage (at least in the...- Acrog

You should be able to use the micro DAC with the bithead just fine. Plug the 1/8th output to the input on the bithead with the mini-mini cable from your bithead.- Acrog
