3rd Annual "Send in my Shure E4's because they crack around the ears"

Dont get me wrong guys. I think Shure's service is unbelievable. And yeah missing my phones for a month isn't the end of the world. It just seems like a pair of $200 headphones should last longer than a year. And it can't be good for Shure to have to replace these things every year in perpetuity.

3rd Annual "Send in my Shure E4's because they crack around the ears"

Is anyone else having this problem? I LOVE my Shure E4's. I love the way they look. I love the way they sound. I love the flexible silicon sleeves. I love the little pouch that comes with them. And for reasons that will become clear I LOVELOVELOVE their 2 year no-questions-asked warranty...

Best place to get Replacement Earpads?

NO!!! My puppy chewed up the earpads on my SR-60's! They were the "comfies", so I thought I'd use this opportunity to get the open donut-style pads that come on the higher models. What's the best place to get these? Will Grado ship them direct at a discount? The cheapest i've seen is...

    Relaced my E2's, ordered E4's

My girlfriend got a puppy who decided to eat my E2's. I decided to take the opportunity to upgrade to the E4's. I got a really good price, so I went for it without any major research. What should i expect from the E4's compared to the E2's? I read some reviews, but there seems to be a lot...

    Repairing solder point in SR-60

The solder points in the 1/8" connector on my SR60s seems to be loose. When i plug in the headphones, i get noise out of the right speaker, but nothing in the left. If i jiggle the wire around at the connector, i can get sound out of the left. Is there a way to open up the rubber to get...

    Sennheiser PX100 for Girlfriend

She got the white ones, and seems to like them. The problem was she loved the sound of the Grados, but i'd never be able to convince her to buy Grados because of how unwieldy they are. She doesn't like earbuds/canalphones, and didn't want anything too big. The PX100s seemed like the obvious...

    Sennheiser PX100 for Girlfriend

My girlfriend has been using my SR-60s non-stop lately. It was cute at first, but after about 2 weeks, I realized its time to cut her off. I started suggesting headphones to her that would sound good like the Grados, but that would be more stylish and/or comfortable. So I conviced her to...

    Shure E4's vs E2's E3's?

I have E2's right now. When ever i use them, i can't help but feel like they are clunkier than the E3's and the new (delicious-looking) E4's. I like the way they sound, but i hate the hard silicone sleeves, and i feel like the foamies don't sound quite as dynamic. I'm thinking about selling...

Grados are better. But you need to change your name. "Emokid" is just about the lamest thing i can imagine.

Silicone E2's Sleeves sound better than foam?

I've had my E2's for 8-10 months now. I determined early on that the plastic sleeves were horrible. I couldn't stand the way the hurt my ears. So i've been using foams all this time, and q-tipping frequently, and cleaning the foam when it gets intolerable. But yesterday, i shoved the small...

Newbie looking to start first headphone rig

I would say get the most expensive Grados you can afford. They are quite a nice introduction to audiophilia. But they leak sound more than you'd think. If you want to be considerate, you should probably get some Shure E3's or Etymotic ER-6's but i think you should get some "real" headphones to...

    Impressive Bass from Shure E2's

Wow. I've had my E2's since July, but i guess i haven't listened to any rap in them yet. This afternoon i was repairing a Nomad Xtra for somebody and i plugged in my E2's. WOW! The bass was much more pronounced than i am used to in my usual diet of indie rock, hardcore, and jazz. It wasn't a...

    DIY FM Transmitter?

Hi, i was thinking about getting the TuneCast for my Ipod. I know FM isn't really audiophile friendly, but it would be convenient for me for other reasons. One reason i didn't buy the TuneCast was because i'm sure there's a unbranded version for cheaper. THEN, i got to thinking about DIY. Is...

    Your Opinion on Grado Portability.

I recently bought a pair of Shure E2's to go where my Grado SR-60's cannot. Grados do look kind of weird, but more importantly, they slip while you walk. For any walk more that 15 minutes, i find i'm adjusting them on my head all the time. Also, they don't isolate at all, so cars that might...

    Headphone Purchase Hivemind??!

I'm not saying people are copycatting, although that may happen. I mean that people actually all want the same or similar things at the same time. The same way certain movies do really well regardless of promtion or out of nowhere a lot of people will be into a certain type of music.

    Headphone Purchase Hivemind??!

Has anyone noticed that a lot of people on head-fi seem to buy similar form factor headphones about the same time as everyone else? Back in January I bought Grado SR-60s. It seemed like a lot of other people were buying them too. Now it's summertime and it seems like everyone is asking...

    shure e2c vs etymotic er6

I bought the E2s recently. For the most part, i have not been disappointed. One small gripe is that i bought them to sleep with, and they are great, but you can't really sleep on your side with them, there's a point that pressed against my ear when on my side. I love my Grado SR-60s, but the...
