Zu Mobius in the house!
I gotta tell you guys that the Zu cable on my HD-600's is a masterpiece. I've now have it paired with my LaRocco PPA and after a week of burn-in and listening, it completely ROCKS! I've auditioned every genre of music in my CD collection and can't get over the detail and bandwidth this... -
LaRocco PPA-Diamond Buffer/650's=HEAVEN !!!
The black one belongs to me. Since I'm a McIntosh addict from waaay back, I love the look of black equipment with AL knobs. The blue LED almost matches the rest of the system backlights. Like that's important . The sound is simply fantastic. I am more and more pleased every day. Combined with...- srwatters

First impressions of LaRocco PPA with Diamond buffers
I moved the PPA over to the 'big' system this morning and fired up the SACD of Santana's Abraxas (my favorite 'test' music). I am totally inpressed with the power and presence this amp displays with the HD-600/Mobius combination. I love the black silence between the notes and the air amongst the...- srwatters

Here's what I've got: now, recommend a cable for my HD650's!
Before my new PPA arrived, I hooked up my HD600's to my TAH and iPod (with the Zu Mobius). While I love the pod as a portable and for the cool factor, it just doesn't do justice as a source for the 600. Neither is the TAH, when compared to the PPA. It's all about matching your source, amp... -

First impressions of LaRocco PPA with Diamond buffers
I arrived at home late last night from a business trip to find a box from LaRocco Audio. Since all the audio gear is at the office, I didn't even open the box until I arrived this morning. At first look, the box is beautiful! I had them make it in black with silver buttons. I went for broke...- srwatters

USB 2.0 + Firewire combo PCI card
If you're using an iPod, just make sure the firewire has enough power to charge the pod. I know that's an issue on many low end cards. If you don't have a pod, then who cares. Same issue on the USB2.0 if you have power hungry devices like a hard drive. I tried a different card that wouldn't...- srwatters

USB 2.0 + Firewire combo PCI card
I bought a D-Link model at Fry's (Outpost.com) for $69 IIRC. Windows XP built-in drivers work great. I can load my 20G pod via USB in about 20 minutes. YMMV.- srwatters

Is this worth anything?
I'm not much of an EE or DIY kind of guy, but I have access to EE techs at the office. I'll try to bribe one of them into giving that a try. It really is a cool player before the days of plastic and the such. Thanks!- srwatters

Is this worth anything?
I don't really want to fix it. If someone wants it and will pay to have it shipped, I will let it go. FYI it's circa 1988.- srwatters

Just got my Zu Mobius for the HD600
Try moving them side to side, actually front to back if you were to have the phones on. It's a two pin connector with a friction fit notch on the narrow side. Mine came out easily on my HD600s. Read all the comments here though. There is a bit of disagreement on which cable is 'best' for the... -
Is this worth anything?
I have an original D-15 Sony Discman. It still spins up, but recently has stopped playing discs. It's built like a tank, but needs some TLC. Any idea if it's worth anything?- srwatters

Just got my Zu Mobius for the HD600
Seemed fairly obvious to me. I used my fingers. I didn't want to nick up those pretty machined connectors. BTW, I'm now listening to Clapton at the Royal Albert Hall (24 Nights). Man do these phones and cables make it seem like you are there! Love the ambient audience sounds! -
High Speed USB host controller
Which OS are you using? There was a service pack available for XP and 2000 with updates to USB 2.0 drivers etc. Check your system against the Windows update site to see if it applies to you. If you post your laptop model, I can tell you what speed ports are built in. Or you can find out...- srwatters

Just got my Zu Mobius for the HD600
I'm listening to Abraxas on SACD right now and have a nice big smile on my face. This is how I got here. I received the cable last night but couldn't do a thing with them until this morning since the cans live at the office. Removing the oem cable was quite easy. I had read about the tight...- srwatters

Anyone know how to import non-digital cd's in itunes?
Try setting the player to 45RPM. Maybe 78? I've never heard of an analogue compact disc. Does it actually say AAA as the format? It's not a redbook standard CD. If it says AAD or ADD or DDD then its got to be a PCM digital compact disc. Can you take a picture of the disc and post it? I'm...- srwatters

ICs 101: I need an education!
I've not heard of Signal, so you're on your own there. As far as Kimber goes, it's a love-hate relationship. Some people love them, some can't stand them. I've never heard someone say they're just ok. The high end stuff seems to get good reviews, as well as their budget speaker cable. The... -

ICs 101: I need an education!
There are so many choices, I'm sure most folks don't know where to begin. Like most I started with middle grade Monster cable. From there I wandered to Audioquest. I've finally settled on Nordost for my music systems and Audioquest for my home theatre applications with a Tributaries digital IC... -

best work amp solution
I think the TAH combined with the DAC has better bass, cleaner highs and the added benefit of electrical isolation from the computer due to the optical connection from the Transit. After I get the PPA, I'm going to re-evaluate the old DAC and maybe go with a MSB Link DAC III to get to 24 bit 96k...- srwatters

best work amp solution
I really like my M-Audio Transit USB audio device. I run optical out from it over to a Mobile Fidelity X-ACT DAC then currently to my Total Air Head (soon to be replaced with a LaRocco PPA) then finally to my Senn HD600s. It's a very nice solution for my IBM T41 laptop at the office. iTunes...- srwatters

I got this picture from Larry. He's waiting on an order of Black Gate caps to complete it. I should have it in a few days! Hopefully it will arrive about the same time as my Zu Mobius cable for the HD600s.- srwatters
