    Car Audio Amplifier

Does anyone know of a good solution for a 12V car cigarette lighter powered amplifier?     An age old issue I've been trying to deal with is driving music through the aux jack on my 2008 BMW 328xi with my Galaxy Nexus which does not produce loud enough of audio; annoyingly the aux and 12V...

    Review : AUDINST HUD-MX1 DAC/amp - a promising newcomer (compared to Audio-gd FUN, AMB Gamma2)

I think that more or less any cheapo 15V adapter with 500mA current output capability should work fine.  Perhaps you can email Audinst directly and ask them if they can sell you another stock adapter.

    Review : AUDINST HUD-MX1 DAC/amp - a promising newcomer (compared to Audio-gd FUN, AMB Gamma2)

I do think that it cleans up the sound overall, but it's a minor difference compared to plugging in a 15V wall adapter vs straight USB power.   As a geek I have to find an explanation for everything so here is what I think: Essentially if you only use straight USB power you're powering...

    Review : AUDINST HUD-MX1 DAC/amp - a promising newcomer (compared to Audio-gd FUN, AMB Gamma2)

Quote: I don't think there's any way for you to use the Audinst HUD-MX1 with a phone; digital audio over USB is completely different than analog 3.5mm jack out.  If you want to amplify your phone you should look into something like the Audinst AMP-HP or O2 Headphone Amplifier.   On...

    Review : AUDINST HUD-MX1 DAC/amp - a promising newcomer (compared to Audio-gd FUN, AMB Gamma2)

I took out my DMM today and checked on a few random things out of curiosity.   First of all a little bit about the parts: REG5 - KIA278R12 - 12V LDO linear regulator part REG2 - 33063 DC-DC Converter Part - I'm guessing this is configured in some sort of voltage inverting configuration...

Ahh you mean this thing right?  http://tamaudio.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=35&product_id=106 Definitely looks quite nice....I'm just waiting around for the ODAC to pair with my O2 and I'll probably just keep the Audinst around for mobile use.       Quote...

    Review : AUDINST HUD-MX1 DAC/amp - a promising newcomer (compared to Audio-gd FUN, AMB Gamma2)

Quote: A lot of the really high performance opamps seem to be single SO-8 parts so you'll need to use an adapter of sorts like the ones from BrownDog. For dual DIP-8 opamps the stock LME49860 is already one of the highest spec'ed around as far as I know.  Perhaps you can browse eBay for...

    Review : AUDINST HUD-MX1 DAC/amp - a promising newcomer (compared to Audio-gd FUN, AMB Gamma2)

So here's how I'm currently using my Audinst HUD-MX1:     Sounding pretty good I think... The USB Isolator and 12V LRPS are DIY.   Also just one interesting thing that I haven't seen anyone else comment on yet - Audinst actually put up RMAA measurements in their forums here. ...

It is highly unlikely that screwing up the caps at the floppy power connector would result in the loss of only one channel of audio, as they are just power caps for everything on the card.  It is more likely that you've messed up the coupling caps or something else in the signal path of the...

    Review : AUDINST HUD-MX1 DAC/amp - a promising newcomer (compared to Audio-gd FUN, AMB Gamma2)

Quote: It's not that it lacks regulation he just said:  "A friend of mine tried to power the Audinst with an SLA battery once. I think he reported an improvement (after all it's clean battery power), though he also comments that the quality can be even better if not for the internal...

    Review : AUDINST HUD-MX1 DAC/amp - a promising newcomer (compared to Audio-gd FUN, AMB Gamma2)

Thanks Sardonyx for taking the time to take those measurements; it is interesting to see that the Audinst uses less than 500mA even while driving two headphones at max volume.  This shows that a 1A 15V power supply for the Audinst is definitely more than enough. The issue with the stock power...

    Review : AUDINST HUD-MX1 DAC/amp - a promising newcomer (compared to Audio-gd FUN, AMB Gamma2)

Could anyone possibly recommend me a good linear regulated power supply (kit or full product) for this amp?  I need a good 15V power supply for my Audinst HUD-MX1.   I'm looking at something like this right now: http://www.analogmetric.com/goods.php?id=2211 It looks fairly high...

    Asus Xonar DX Mods!

Any advice on replacing the 4580s and 5532 for the front panel connectors? I tried replacing the 4580s with LME49722 but somehow or another it seems they are unstable in that position. (hearing noise in headphones) I tried the AD8620 in the 4580 position as well since I noticed the LME49722...

Nice little guide there. I think the Xonar is a great card and it's just even greater with a few simple mods. Here's a little diagram: RED - Front 2 channels BLU - Surround channels GRN - Front panel audio I think... I've replaced the RED and BLU 5532s with LME49722 op-amps and I...

Recapping and Replacing Opamps on an X-Fi Xtreme Audio

ImageShack - Hosting :: boardlayoutxc1.jpg Yes yes I know it’s a piece of @#$% Xtreme Audio card, and even worse, its an OEM version of it too so I can’t even use standard Creative drivers that already suck enough to begin with. Unfortunately back when I bought the card my goal was to more or...
