Well, it's that time again. I'm trying to find a good pair of earbuds that also clip over the top of the ear. The trick is to find a pair with a sound somewhat comparable to that of the Senn HD280. I'm looking for tight, defined bass with good mids and balanced highs. The B&O A8s sound close but...

I'm actually looking for a portable alternative to my Senn HD 280s and these are currently on my list of possible buys. I've heard that their bass is kinda weak from other sources (like the 280s), but are they as detailed as the 280s in their sound signature?

I have to disagree on the subject of the Cowon SQ being incredibly hot. Does anyone else here not find its sound rather sibilant and high pitched? That, and their bass response sometimes seems rather muted--especially in the really low end. I remember speaking to another bloke who was rather...

I only have between forty and fifty CDs so I just keep them in a Slappa case that I can keep in the car and lug around to work and back. Being able to see the covers is a big help when I need to quickly choose between blaring Saint Eve or Emergence.

I actually haven't cared for the GBA games as of late. I think the last one I really enjoyed was Wing Commander. I have been hooked on SOCOM for the PSP, however. It's just a matter of taste. ^_^

I can't say anything about the other headphones you mentioned (I've never had the pleasure of hearing them), but as for the 280s, the bass does get a whole lot better with a good looooonnnnnnnngg burn-in. If you want to burn headphones in for such a long time. I love'em but if you want...

Think of the PSP as the new Game Gear. Superior graphics and all sorts of handy abilities that the Nintendo portable systems just don't have (so far as I know). And I used to have a Game Gear, too. How long did it take the Game Boy to catch up in terms of technology?

Do you mind if they're bif clonkers? Or were you thinking of IEMs or earbuds? Me, I use HD280s at work. They're a bit bright sounding--similar to the 497s that way but the bass goes way down LOW and they're tighter sounding as well. 'Course, they're huge and heavy.
