I listen to mine from the PC --> Audio GD chain of Digital Interface --> Ref-1 --> ACSS cables --> Phoenix --> balanced HE-6. I think it's fine even though others have said the Phoenix doesn't drive it to it's maximum potential.

You have to buy it through Audio GD unless you intend to find one used. Just do a search for Audio GD.

iBasso D2 amp with DAC.

Don't know, I've never tried to A/B them because it's hard to do on the Phoenix without having to futz with volume. I got them balanced for the Phoenix and always use it balanced with that amp. Sounds great SE on a EF-5 though.

I have to say the JH16 pro sounded spectacular when I put them on this past Saturday at the meet. So nice that I am considering these for next purchase. I just need to go and justify it to myself now.
