The sound of the Ultrasone Pro (Proline) 750 Headphones

Thank you for your kind words, Worldman. I meant to write to you before but my attention was diverted. I also keep coming back to the Pro 750 for basically the same reason as you. As a matter of fact, I am listening to them right now. Until very recently it has been a number of years since I...

Ultrasone Pro 750 vs 900 question.

I know this is an old post but I will reply anyway in the interest of correct information. The Ultrasone Pro 750 does not have a metallic sound. I have owned one for nearly 10 years and I assure you there is no metallic sound. Ultrasones require a burn-in period of at least 100 hours before...

The sound of the Ultrasone Pro (Proline) 750 Headphones

Paul, It is a coincidence you mentioned Pink Floyd because a few days ago I was listening to my original vinyl version of Meddle which I hadn't heard in some years.  And, yes, I did listen to that album with the Pro 750.  Regarding your problem, there are a number of possible causes.  Since...

The easiest way is to order a new cable from Ultrasone.  Here is a link to their cable listing page for the United States. If you are not in the United States, the cable listing page for other countries is easy to find:   http://shopworld.ultrasone.com/us/category.php?id_category=20   In...

Bought Ultrasone Signature Pro yesterday, still not confident

No matter which brand of headphone, anytime someone tells me that an expensive headphone like the Signature Pro is prone to sibilance, I automatically think there is probably something else wrong in the audio chain or maybe the headphone has not been properly burned-in.  If you haven't tried...

Krisman, I did not assume anything about your musical tastes.  I wrote "IF" in my comment which was in completion "IF you like their performances, we also have vastly different tastes in music..."  I did not know in actuality your musical tastes and, once again, never made any assumption...

Botchki, The Pro 750 is great with vocals.  I can say this from experience because I am a vocalist.

deafandblind, I'm answering your post after such a long time because I haven't been on Head-fi for over two years.  Regarding positioning as it relates to the S-Logic effect, for many people, positioning the cups so that the ear canal is in the center of the cup gives the best possibility for...

I have tried them with an amp and what I found is the Pro 750 sounds better with a neutral (flat) amp than with one that alters the sound ("colored").  They sound great plugged into a sound board which I have done many times.

Throzen0303, This corresponds exactly with what I wrote about before in my comments to Krisman about his review of the Pro 750.  The native sound of the Pro 750 treble does not hurt people's ears. Believe me, I am very particular about audio fidelity.  Some have accused me of being a...

Krsiman, I want to make it clear that I am not trying to change your mind.  What I am trying to do is figure out why your extremely negative perception of these headphones is not only the opposite of mine but also the opposite of other many people some of whom are recording industry...

Krisman, There is something wrong somewhere.  Maybe it's your amp.  I don't know, but my 6 year long experience with the Pro 750 is the polar opposite of your experience.  I could not ask for a more beautiful sounding headphone.  Did you try repositioning as I suggested in my previous comment? ...

Valhallatier, 1. It's not my recording at fault; 2. I dislike and am not accustomed to "crazy treble spikes"; 3. The amp I was using functions well; 4. I have not heard all of the Beyer headphones but I would agree that the DT 770 is boring but I'm not sure about it being "neutral"; 5.  Someone...

Bought Ultrasone Signature Pro yesterday, still not confident

Sofastreamer, Ultrasones require burn-in and a lot of it!  Burn in for at least 100 hours.  The sound will improve signficantly. Make certain the cable is screwed in all the way.  A common complaint from Ultrasone newbies is the phones don't sound good and one of the reasons is because of the...

Krisman, If that's you in the picture, the way you probably have to wear a headphone headband because of the tall height of your hair (either immediately over your forehead or at the very back of your head) I do not doubt that the Pro 750 sounds bad to you.  It is absolutely necessary for the...

Here is a quote from a review on Amazon.com.  The author of the review seems to agree with me about the sound of the DT 770: "These do offer a natural, yet slightly muddied (which does improve with use) sound..." If you wish to read the full review here is a link:  ...

I listened to the DT 770s by way of a amplifier for a home stereo.  As far as I know they were not defective.  I listened to this same amplifier with another pair of headphones and they sounded OK.   I mentioned my opinion of these phones to someone and they told me they agreed that these...

    Ultrasone Fan Club! (Roll Call)

I am a very happy owner of the Pro 750 for nearly 6 years (purchased in December 2008).  I have listened to them frequently (almost on a daily basis) since they were first "burned in" about 3 days after I bought them.  Mostly, I listen to them plugged into a sound board and not a dedicated...

Review by 'Peter Pinna' on item 'Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO Closed Studio Headphones - 250 Ohms'

I am really surprised to see so many positive reviews on the DT 770.  To my ears, the sound this headphone renders is muffled.  To my ears they sound as though someone has placed a heavy cloth over the microphones before recording.  That muffled sound distracts from the details heard from the...

I have owned the Ultrasone Pro 750 for approximately 6 years and to say that I am familiar with the sound of this particular headphone would be an immense understatement. As a highly experienced listener to the Pro 750 I can readily assure all of the people who have written negative reviews...

Ultrasone Edition 8's "Yay or Nay"?

Quote taken from post by Cjfrbw: "Anything that can make an ipod with mp3s sound hi end and scale up all the way to a tubed vinyl system seems a pretty good thing to me." I would have thought that the Ed 8 would greatly reveal the inadequacies of an .mp3. While I can listen to and enjoy...
