Virtual Dynamics Judge power cable arrived
I don't know what to say. I've spent hours reading this guys back story, hitting as many threads as I can out of sear fascination. Patrick, thanks for being so entertaining! Seriously though man, wow. I'm dumbfounded. That being said, I don't believe in cables. So I find all of this, and...- Barista

K271 distortion?
The K271s are extremely clear. Chances are its ether you source or other equipment. With a good set of cans, you'll hear problems further up the chain. :P At least that is my case. Try listening to them flat, no eq, dirrect from source. You're ears and brain will need a little "burn in" time...- Barista

AKG K 701 Sound Leaking
Hi all. I saw the new AKG K 701 and was considering picking up a pair. I currently have been using the K271s for about 2 years and really enjoy them. My question is, I work in an office environment so I need a set that does not leak a lot of sound when on. Like for example My Grados would...- Barista

Best headphone without disturbing others?
http://www.dansdata.com/k271.htm A pretty nice review of them BTW. Also, to add, while I am a fan of IEM (In Ear Monitors), I wouldn't recomend them for long extended sessions. They make your ear canals a little sore after a couple of hours.- Barista

Best headphone without disturbing others?
My Vote is AKG K271 Studio I bought my AKG K271 Studio cans specifically for work. Very good isolation, extremely comfortable, surprisingly light weight, not fatiguing, and right at $200 with shipping. Also they mute when you take them off, which is very nice in an office environment when...- Barista

Opinions on E3's and EX71's (or others) vs. PortaPros
I just picked up some Shure E2 yesterday. They were $70 at Guitar Center here in Dallas. I think they are the E2 not E2c (Last years model? No mention of E2c anywhere on the package). I assume the same product. I also agree with previous posters, they have ample bass, however there is a...- Barista

AKG 271 Studio
So I've spent a LOT of time with these headphones now. They sound absolutely amazing. So detailed. Just amazing, but there is a catch. You've got to run them pretty dirty to sound good (Lots of bottom EQ (Mostly just boosting anything below ~200Hz)). At which point they have some of the...- Barista

Well, the DT770 needs ampage, so that's out. What about the 250-250? Need amp for them? Anyone comment on the Beyerdynamic DT 831?- Barista

AKG 271 Studio
Do K271 users normally EQ these headphones? I'm used to other Audiophile grade headphones that sound very much perfect flat/no eq. The only way I can get these K271s to have "ANY" bass is to ramp up the bass on my player all the way +10. I've only spent about 15 hours breaking them in...- Barista

Yea, I've got Crystal Method on repeat now and will continue overnight. The phones are absolutely amazing quality; I would be so utterly destroyed if they didn't develop. I'm patient, we'll see what happens.- Barista

AKG 271 Studio
gpalmer, I sure hope your right. I've read that here, so I'm being patient. Everything about them is top notch and I have high hopes for them, but I have to admit the sound out of the box is a bit worrisome. I've got them roasting now, and will let them play overnight at a moderate...- Barista

AKG 271 Studio
I just got my AKG K271s today. I've changed jobs, and chose to leave my Grado SR60 cans at home since they are a bit loud for an open office (cubes). After much research, reading of much info from this forum, headwize, and finally headrooms blerb on the AKG K217s I bought a pair. Listening...- Barista
