The problem was not with the computer but with the headphones, so, instead of protect your computer with a password, just unplug and hide your amp's interconnect and/or lock your headphones.

I'd return them immediately and before any cleaning or before you tear them apart. Get the same model and open them in the store (if that's the case) in front of one of the store's employees to make sure that only the first pair that you got had that smell. If the second pair stinks as well...
