Soundcard Modding: Audigy 2 ZS
Wow, great pic! Thank you much... I'm going to save that in case I get the cajones to rip up a new Audigy2 here in the near future. It's just the three AD8620's you've added correct? Hi Glassman, what exactly is the benefit of that? And... which components are those? Thanks guys, Adso- Adso

I could use your help Head-Fier's! Chopping mp3's.
Hey folks, this may be a little out there for this forum, but I could use a little help. I was wanting to replace various system sounds from my computer with sound-bites from songs... probably in mp3 format. Possibly wmv. Does anyone know of a simple way to edit these file types for length so... -
Wow... how can this be? PPA vs Xiang Sheng 708
Hehe, this has been an intersting thread. Vedder, for the sake of those following this thread and the rollercoaster you're taking us on... please don't sell the tube amp until you've had a chance to compare it side-by-side with the hot-modded PPA. Tubes or solid state... the world is watching...- Adso

Soundcard Modding: Audigy 2 ZS
So you've done this mod MisterX? Could you give us a little mini-review/summary of the sound quality differences if you get a spare moment? I'd greatly appreciate your input too Harkamus since you seem to be positive about it. And, how difficult is this mod to do? Thanks, Adso- Adso

Soundcard Modding: Audigy 2 ZS
I'd be most interested to see some info on this too. I've seen a couple people talk about having Audigy 2's and swapping opamps out, but they don't seem to respond to questions about it. I'd be curious to hear how it's done and if there is a significant sound difference. Hopefully someone will...- Adso

HD590s bad for gaming. Other Recommendations?
Quote: Originally posted by wallijonn Now, will some Meta42Max builder please built it inside a 5.25" bay case and sell it to the PC gamers? It'll easily be able to use the usual 4 pin hard disk drive power connector (has +/- 12V for the rails). Heck, with so many PC gamers...- Adso

Gaming headphones?
Someone should mention the extremely long burn-in time for the Senns. Oh wait... Just be aware that tons of 280 owners on head-fi have stated that these cans take a lot (100+ hours) of burn-in time before they settle in and sound their best. I don't say this to dissuade you, just for your...- Adso

Stripping voice from music?
Hrmm, well, how about kareoke music? Does anyone know where we could find a large selection of quality recordings from our favorite artists that are intended for use in the kareoke business? Grasping for strings here I guess hehe... Thanks for all the help folks. Adso -
Stripping voice from music?
Well, darn. In leiu of someone popping in and gracing us with some new working method, does anyone know of some resources where a lot of contemporary music can be found without the voice elements? I'm guessing it's going to be hard to find Pearl Jam, Radiohead, things like that... Adso... -
Stripping voice from music?
Is it possible to strip the voice component out of a digital recording? I want to listen to my favorite music while I'm working, but the vocal components make it too distracting for me. Is there a way I can strip it out of an mp3 collection? Adso -

christmas = new gaming headphones, need help
I went through this discovery process myself a bit ago. I think you'll find that the 590's get *much* more positive responses than the 570's, for all the reasons already listed. Speaking to the fact that a lot of people really seem to have jumped on the 570 bandwagon for games; I think there...- Adso

Looks great Was ist los?! I'm hopefully getting ready to build a PIMETA myself and your idea of integrating the bass boost looks like an option I might be interested in. hd570's, best audio quality sound card? audigy 2 zs?
I noticed that modded card over there too. Asdfeproiu9, can you enlighten us any on how the different opamps (and if I remember right, different caps too) affect the sound, both for music and games? I hadn't really considered the possibility of modding a SC before, is there any info on this...- Adso

CMOY/Meta Amp for PC

lindrone : Excellent, thank you. While I appreciate the info, I have to say my wallet disapproves, sounds like the number of soundcards on my 'to buy' list just doubled. I hate making choices. Fewtch is selling the prettiest d*%^ Meta42 you'll ever see in the for sale forum. You can track it's whole history too via threads on Head-Fi (linked form his for sale page) which is kinda neat I think. It comes with all kinds of freebies too at a great price, check the link...- Adso

Troll Questions - 590's or...?
Phew, y'all are active. Douglas, that would be tremendously helpful, but I almost hate to ask, it seems like a lot of trouble to go to. From what I've read I am extremely interested in the 580's also, but I'm shy of them unless I commit to an amp. (On the other hand they would be a lot of...- Adso

I have a pretty specific project in...- Adso
