A store in NYC to audition IEM's?
I remember back when I was there, I found a place to audition UE, Shure etc in the Grand Central Terminal. Around the exit to the Grand Hyatt Hotel. I forgot the name, but they sell headphones and CD,DVDs. Hope that helps- Jerry Wang

How do you carry your earphones?
In my backpack's front bag, or just in their included carrying case. One bother though for not putting the IEM back to their carrying case is that the plug and unplug procedure can cause some IEMs gold plug to fade and damage the headphone jack of the portable device( shure products fade easily...- Jerry Wang

Those Of You That Have Both UM2 and W3
um, both in hands, I'd say, really they share the similar westone sound.(with standard comply) In bass area, W3 has a lot better bass extension, tight, pounding with a lot of quantity yet doesn't at all mess up with the mid, while the um2, has the same lovely bass, but warmer, more towards...- Jerry Wang

Westone: Now THAT's customer service!
WOW, VERY GOOD TO HEAR THAT. I got the um2 and W3 both as well. Both well built and great sounding. My shure se530 once got that cable spilt. It took them a month(seller to authorized distributer to shure) to give me a new pair. And they just changed the earphone themselves, not even the...- Jerry Wang

Shure SE530 not enough BASS!!!
I see you using an iPod. IMO, adjust the EQ on your iPod, set it to Electronic, Rock or Jazz. They all pretty much boost the bass while adjusting the high roll-off issue. Some people don't like EQing(at least on iPods), But I feel it does more good than bad.- Jerry Wang

More Bass than a W3?
Better bass? Use the standard comply with W3, huge improvement over slim or short comply or silicons. and they're cheap- Jerry Wang

New Apple In-Ear Headphones
I found the Apple in ear's large silicon tip the best. the large ones are thicker and don't have all the bad microphonics issues. but they don't seal deeply and make the weak/small sound seems even weaker. I like the highs they produce, not quite refined but pleasing. While the whole sonic...- Jerry Wang

to upgrade or not ?
I'm not so certain on sa6's build quality. You can consider those IE 8/IE 7 if you are in EU. You can get them cheap- Jerry Wang

Shure SE310's? great reviews
among the three you mentioned, I only heard se310. In those single driver models, X10 seems to be the best from people's posts. And I think the 5 out of 5 is just headroom's opinion. I find them pretty decent, but not excellent. Be careful those se310s are not very durable IMO.- Jerry Wang

IE8, SE530/E500 PTH, W3, UE Triple.Fi10 Pro or Ety ER4P?
I'll say W3 beats se530. And pretty much is all you are looking for. And se530's cable is not that crap though I won't say it's good.(cable split is history for most)- Jerry Wang

Alternatives to Klipsch Image X5?
Only heard um2 among the ones you've mentioned. um2 is a very warm set of earphones with a lot of warm bass, and rolled off highs. It's not flat sounding at all since it has a lot bass and yummy midrange(VERY much like the se530 on the midrange) and note that um2 respond well well to eq...- Jerry Wang

Upgrade from Triple.fi?
If you want to upgrade to yet another IEM, custom seems the way to go. UE10 UE11 and the new Wesone ES3x all win praises. yet they are pretty expensive.- Jerry Wang

new cable for super fi 5 pro
there are third party upgrade cables for ue models. try to find a dealer that sells them. They are better than the UE stock cables in terms of SQ, well, most of them are. My SF5 pro's cable's "J" plug dead once, and I bought a new one from a chinese vendor. P.S. Recable them using Westone...- Jerry Wang

Shure Olives vs. Shure Orange foamies?
I remember using the yellow foamies back when I bought my e2c. Since e2's nozzle are slightly thicker, I'm not sure if it's the exact model. IMO, olive are a way better choice.(and most will agree) olives are softer, expand and isolate better, last a very long period of time and washable. And...- Jerry Wang

Shure Questions
It's not practical. It's silly to carry around such a bulky thing and worry where to put them.. the steel back scratches your ipod. When no music is playing, you can hear a conversation clearly with most IEMs. Plus, you are gonna have a 100+ inch cable down from your headphone to your ipod.- Jerry Wang
