Headphones for electronic drums (Roland TD-9)

the D1000 doesn't seal very well (not nearly as well as the DT770/HD280), but it's pretty comfortable.

    which sealed headphone for distortion

Thanks MuseMan, I see your point. Much of the Raveonettes' (just like early Jesus & mary chain) music is enveloped in distortion/noise, which can be quite unbearable with too much detail. But the song I auditioned the D2000s with was a Greenday song (Boulevard of broken dreams) in which the...

    Recommendation for a first timer

You can't go wrong with Koss PortaPros. An equally good and equally cheap 'entry-level' phone is the Sennheiser PX100, which has a little less bass and a little more refined mids. IMO both of these will give most of the qualities of several $100+ cans without setting you back more than...

Denon D5000 for 419$ at Provantage!

When you add the D5000 to cart it says: This item is located at a regional warehouse, but must be shipped to our main Ohio warehouse for export processing. It will then be shipped to you. Manufacturer's Warranty. Available to USA and Canada only.

Denon D5000 for 419$ at Provantage!

I agree, but after shipping from the US and custom duties I will still end up paying $600 for the D5000 and not have any warranty. Provantage states on their website that "Forwarding an item with international restrictions to destinations outside of the United States (or other authorized...

Are there no distortion enthusiasts out there, who have found just the right sealed can for distortion?

Denon D5000 for 419$ at Provantage!

wow, I wish us Europeans could buy at such a price. Here the D5000 would cost me approx. $800

The official "most OVERRATED headphones" thread

most overrated for me would be the Shure E4c's and the Denon D2000s.

    Denon D2000 vs. Beyerdynamic DT770/80?

I don't have either but have spent the past few weeks looking for a good sealed headphone, and have auditioned both the D2000 and the DT770/80 and attempted to compare them. I listen mainly to alternative rock and pop, and for this genre I preferred the Beyer. The Denon has a much bigger...

    Entry level audiophile headphones

I have no experience with the Philips but I love my HD595, and consider it a great entry level phone, which is at the same time easy to drive and hence good for portable players. Check it out if you can find one.

    which sealed headphone for distortion

At home I use a Beresford DAC from my PC and a EyeTek tube amp (identical to the Fatman Itube), both IMO warm sounding. When auditioning the Denons at the store, however, it was on a Denon D-M33, which is not high-end but still supposed to be pretty decent. What I perceived as tinny in the...

    which sealed headphone for distortion

You're absolutely right Tiemen. I read extensively about the D2000s here on Head-fi and really expected them to be 'the right' headphone for my preferences, since most people here seems to love them. I was really disappointed when I actually heard them though. They may not have been burned in...

    which sealed headphone for distortion

Thanks Jaska the HD265 look very interesting, but I can't seem to find a store anywhere that carry them. Are they discontinued? Anyone else know of other possible candidates?

    which sealed headphone for distortion

Hi everyone I really need advice as to which sealed headphones will best suit my listening preferences. Let me first make clear that the phones have to be sealed since I can't escape a noise environment when listening. I listen to a lot of bands such as Greenday, Dinosaur Jr...

Newbie needs help deciding on headphones!!

I think you ought to seriously consider the HD201's. They are cheap, but sound very good (relative to the price of course). They are circumaural and sealed and comfortable to wear. You can also read about them at Sennheiser HD 201 @ HeadRoom - Right Between Your Ears.

MS1s: Too much leakage for work. Recommendations?

Have you considered the sennheiser HD25? They generally get very positive ratings and is supposed to sound very good for a sealed headphone. I saw them yesterday at $129 on Ebay. Another great on-ear sealed headphone selling at about the same price as the HD25 is the AKG 171. Both of these...

Comfortable, non-fatiguing headphones? HD25 not doing the trick.

I agree, the DT770 is very comfortable. I recently tried the new AKG k271 mkII that also come with velour pads, and (although I only wore them for a few minutes) they seemed even more comfortable than the Beyers (less pressure). You might consider them as well.

    Need portable phones 40$

I have had the portapros for a long time and been very happy with them. They recently broke (I use them for everything and don't handle them particularly careful) and I wanted to try something else, so I got the PX100s. They are great as well, a little less bass and perhaps a bit more realistic...

Should I Buy Sennheiser HD 202's for $20?

Have you considered the Senn 201s, they are about the same price as the 202s, and while not fantastic they certainly do a very decent job for a sealed headphone within this price range. You could also check out the review at http://www.headphone.com/

    Looking for studio/mixing headphones

AFAIK the most important thing when mixing (on headphones or speakers) is to know your source well and how it translates. That said, I recently bought a cd that I learned was mixed mainly on a pair of DT-990s. The sound is really good, so I guess (without personal experiene though) that the...

    100$ to burn...

I personally love the PX100s for portable use, they are almost as detailed as my Shure E4C and a lot more comfortable to wear for longer sessions.

Have you considered the Senn HD595? They are both very detailed and slightly forward sounding, not to mention incredibly comfortable.

Best set of portable non-amp cans under $300 US

I switch between my HD595 and PX100's and I am very happy with both. Even though the PX100's can be found (I'm in Europe where prices tend to be somewhat higher than in the US) at around $50 I think they sound very good for portable use. They are very easy to drive + they take up significantly...
