Is burn-in real or imagined?
Burn-in is one area that exposes the the myriad of myths and imagination of this forum. Maybe it;s real. Maybe it's not. I am a great sceptic. I dont even believe my own ears. I certainly dont believe that anyone here has to say about burn in. Come to think of it, I dont believe anything...- Hunter_Killer

Grado 325i Arrival
Sigh. There should be a sticky forbidding people from posting first impressions straight out of the box because: 1. Theyre gonna go "OMG MAN THESE CANS ARE CRAP" 2. It just arouses the whole "burning in" debacle again.- Hunter_Killer

Gilmore Lite
My Lite had good bass straight from the packaging and there was minimal improvement after burn in. With amp I dont think the difference is as pronounced as a pair of headphones.- Hunter_Killer

HD cans with impedence worries over exagerated.
It may be exaggerated but fact remains that the HD580s etc need more juice. My HD580 would suck straight out of a discman. What youre saying is like if someone said "clothes are overrated". Of course you can still live without them, but wouldnt be better if you had them?- Hunter_Killer

SR60s or SR80s?
One isnt comprehensively better than the other. SR80 for rock, trance and metal. SR60 for all else. Doesnt get any simpler than this.- Hunter_Killer

Yet another new Grado owner!
We have to pay more here but oh well. I love my SR80s. My HD580 and ER4P just dont cut it when it comes to trance. The punchiness is awesome Get yourself a pair of flat pads. They made the bass deeper by a long shot.- Hunter_Killer

My experience wearing my modified Grados out in public today
To honest the SR80s look very low key. I didnt notice any stares at all when I wore it to uni and on the bus. However the reason i stopped was cos they were too open and also the cables drove me up the wall. CD3000s....now thats a headphone thatll take courage to wear in public. Even I...- Hunter_Killer

Have sr325i...get sr80?
Haha, are you insane? The SR80s are good cans but the 325i would have everything it has plus more. Your money, your choice.- Hunter_Killer

Been listening to sister's PX100
Straight outta the portable discman, nothing comes close. Not my SR80, nor my ER4P. The ER4P just sounds thin and lack bass without a proper amp while the PX100 seem to demand less in terms of equipment and gives more. The PX100 deserves all the praise it gets!!- Hunter_Killer

Grado + ? = Complementary
I think the most obvious answer is the Sennheisers but since you dont have adequate amp dont even bother. If I were you Id get the amp before the second pair of cans.- Hunter_Killer

HD580's or AKG 501's
I havent heard the 501 but if its reputed lack of bass is true I dont want to know about it. With the Oehlbach cable my HD580 kicks serious butt for the price. The ONLY thing it isnt excellent at is high impact heavy metal.- Hunter_Killer

ety foams way better than triflanges?
I prefer tri-flange, but every now and then it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to get a seal on one of the sides. This happened yesterday, and when the tri flange doesnt get a seal, you might as well listen to Sony earbuds. They WILL sound better than tri flange that arent sealed.- Hunter_Killer

ER-4P and heavy metal - Meh
Wow I dont even remember making this thread A while has passed since then, and not a thing has changed for me.
