NEW HiBy R4
It is a systemwide PEQ for PCM based music(eg MP3, FLAC, etc), but not for MQA or DSD.- Murgatroid

NEW HiBy R4
The owners of MQA do not allow EQ/PEQ, so these files will not be EQed. DSD is another format that can’t be messed with unless it’s converted to PCM.- Murgatroid

SONY NW-ZX700
You can't do this with the Walkman app, but it's an Android player and you can install any number of music players. I believe UAPP can do what you want and also plays bit perfect (bypassing the SRC process). The downside is that it will use more battery than the built-in player.- Murgatroid

HiBy RS2: dual card slots, Darwin R2R, FIR, NOS, MQA 8x--news and impressions thread
Buying used is always a crap shoot. However, I think buying from the classifieds here is better than eBay, Craigslist, etc. Most people here take good care of their equipment since they buy and sell often. I bought my RS2 from the classifieds from a guy who claimed he only charged it 5 times...- Murgatroid

New Sony Walkman NW-A300 Series (Android 12)
My jack is solid and the buttons are responsive. I use the Walkman app for local, and Apple Music, mainly offline. I love the sound, size, weight, and battery life. I think I'm becoming a Sony fanboy!- Murgatroid

Cayin N7: A Voyager of Unexplored Frontier
I believe the only way is to use a player that will convert DSD to PCM, then it can be EQ'ed before being converted back to DSD. DSD is an interesting beast and not the easiest to work with.- Murgatroid

Cayin N7: A Voyager of Unexplored Frontier
Maybe PEQ isn’t working for MQA on Tidal (supposedly EQ is not possible for MQA?) but works on Tidal with FLAC songs? I’m surprised you hear a difference between Cayin and HiBy apps. Like you mentioned, the Cayin player is a re-skinned HiBy player without the extra features (MSEB, plugins...- Murgatroid

NEW HiBy R4
Are you charging while playing? That may make it hot. Class A amps run warm anyway and it’s best to not charge while listening for better battery health.- Murgatroid

NEW HiBy R4
I find the Hifiman HE400SE, as well as the Ananda Nano, are driven nicely by all my DAPs, including the anemic Sony A306 (uncapped version) which surprised me. I've been eyeing the Meze 99 Classic. They are currently $250 on Amazon. The Neo version is $200. The 99's are supposedly very easy...- Murgatroid

New Sony Walkman NW-A300 Series (Android 12)
I bought one of these via ebay from a Japanese seller for $242 plus sales tax. It is listed as pre-owned, but it looks like it may have been an open box return as it looks new in the original box. It was shipped Fed-ex and got here (western US) in 4 days from when the seller eventually shipped...- Murgatroid

Cayin N3Ultra: an Entry-level Portable DAP that Delivers a Complete Vacuum Tube Audio Experience
I'm not sure what the N3Pro got for battery life, but I'm getting at least 10 hours. It's a lot better than my RS6 and seems comparable to my RS2. It gets warm (I always have one of the tube modes on), but not hot. Definitely cooler than the RS6 and N7. I haven't heard any noise when...- Murgatroid

New Sony Walkman NW-A300 Series (Android 12)
So, A306 or used ZX507? I want to experience the Sony magic on the cheap and love the engineering that goes into their players. A used ZX507 and an A306 are in similar price ranges. I love the small size of the A306 with the longer battery life, newer Android and (I think) faster SOC. On the...- Murgatroid

HiBy RS2: dual card slots, Darwin R2R, FIR, NOS, MQA 8x--news and impressions thread
Mine also showed 1.3. Other than the new V2 filters (which I still can't hear the differences!), it all seems to work well for me. I'm not sure what the track order issue is as I usually shuffle, or I pick an Artist->Album, and listen to it in order. Both work the same- Murgatroid

V1.3 FW is now available for the RS2 and it finally includes the Darwin V2 filters. I’m not sure I’m allowed to post a link but you can find it on HiBy’s website.- Murgatroid

I believe it's a fixed delay. If your player can delay the video for a number of different static values, you should be able to find something that works.- Murgatroid

NEW HiBy R4
I can't answer your question on if the SOC can handle the processing in your case, but it does have enough power to handle the HiBy plug-ins, like convolution, which is fairly processing intensive. The convolution plug-in may be able to use your profile. You should know that there is latency...- Murgatroid

Cayin N3Ultra: an Entry-level Portable DAP that Delivers a Complete Vacuum Tube Audio Experience
I'm loving my N3Ultra as well, although I still pull out my N7 daily. @ToneDeafMonk, is your R4 a review unit or is it for sale someplace? I think that is quite a disruptive DAP and is a hell of a deal at $249.- Murgatroid

Cayin N7: A Voyager of Unexplored Frontier
I can definitely recommend this dap. I love this thing and have had zero issues. I don’t recall reading of widespread issues for the N7. The price is less than it was at release. The other dap I’d possibly consider in a similar price range is the R8ii but it’s a little bigger and heavier. Both...- Murgatroid
