Shike can you provide any feedback on your experience in comparing the two? What games? Which Xfi-CMSS3D card were you comparing to? etc.

I was only referring to it's gaming performance, nothing competes with CMSS3D in games. Again to reiterate, it doesn't produce great quality when enabled, it gives amazing pin point accuracy when trying to position footsteps, pins, gun fire etc.

AFAIK only creative sound cards are capable of it, the Auzentech XFI cards are still the best quality option.

CMSS3D for movies!!!?? It makes anything sound horrible. Yes it's good for games but not because of quality, just better positioning. Listen to some music and turn it off and on a few times, if you can't notice a dramatic drop in quality then there's something wrong in between your headphones

Dolby Headphone appears to only be good with some headphones \ setups. Personally I never use it and when listening to blurays just use crossfeed on my amp.

genclaymore, Still wondering which games you're referring to so I can compare with my setup. All the ones I've tested have seen a vast improvement in positional ability from having headphone mode selected.

The Prelude XFi drivers that Auzentech have been putting out for Vista x64 have all be rock solid. All this "boo vista" talk is so annoying.

n3rdling, I couldn't imagine taking my DT880s to a LAN!! Dunno what sorta LAN's you've been too but all the ones I've been to have been so loud you wouldn't hear the game with open cans. Again - a situation where good IEM's really shine.

DT880 are great - but for matches I always use GX-400's (Ety's ER-4P's). I have tried a lot and nothing comes close to these. The isolation comes in very handy for when phone rings etc (you won't hear anyone standing at the door screaming at you for example :P) I find them annoying to put on...

I'm unable to notice a difference in quality between asio\kernel streaming vs using vista's audio stack with an Auzentech Prelude and my FLAC library. I find having volume control and a buffer far more useful. Easy to switch though if your ears are better than mine.
