Question about recording live sound with an iPod
Is there anyway to record live sound with an iPod? I know that griffintechnology and belkin have voice recorders, but they record at 16-bit mono. I want to achieve a decent level of resolution ie. 128/192-bits.- innocentbystandr

Group Buy on cheap hopsital grade (green dot) Quail power cords.
Right now we have one person acting as our representative to Quail and one person in charge of distribution. If the members of the messageboard want two seperate orders each at roughly 100 cables, it'll only be a matter of time before Welly and Tortie become overwhelmed. And it will happen... -
Group Buy on cheap hopsital grade (green dot) Quail power cords.
I'd be interested in one, IF the actual cost of the cord stays around $12.00 and we decide upon a go-to guy located in the US. -
Pioneer 563... To mod or not to mod... that is the question!
As a previous Pioneer 563 owner, this is my recommendation: try the unit out as is first, give it a week or so. At that point if you decide that the unit needs the improvement, then check out the mods. OR if you really like the unit and you think you're going to stick with it for a while, then...- innocentbystandr

Help me fine some good $50 speakers
There's a seller on eBay that goes by the name of "Lanemart" that sells a lot of Wharfedale speakers. He/she sells new-in-box Wharfedale Diamonds 7.2's for the "Buy it now" price of $60.00 (shipping was $17.00 from Mass. to Oregon). I just checked, but the seller doesn't have any right now. When... -
Cheap amp for HD-600
Everytime I see a thread like this nowadays, I think of mkmelt. This is good, practical advice that he's giving. I took his advice, and I'm really happy that I did so. I'm grateful that he posts here; he's a real chamption for these vintage amps.- innocentbystandr

Anyone into Techno?
For anybody that wants to learn more about dance music; two fabulous books to read: Last Night a DJ Saved My Life: The History of the Disc Jockey by Bill Brewster and Frank Broughton: VERY interesting and funny book to read. Explores the roots of dance music: Northern soul, reggae and disco -...- innocentbystandr

Anyone into Techno?
Ya, the G&D Global DJ Broadcast from 5-19-03 (if this is the one you're thinking of) is good, maybe even better than the Essential Mix (It ends with their mix of Jewel - Intuition). The mix from 10-2 is okay, but probably the Essential and 5-19 are better. Have you checked out...- innocentbystandr

Anyone into Techno?
Man, it has been snowing all day... I would say that my #1 favorite classic dance compilation of all time: Danny Tenaglia - Global Undergound Athens. I have it on CD and vinyl. The vinyl is worth buying just to get Miss Kitten - Frank Sinatra alone. Other comps I like that aren't...- innocentbystandr

Anyone into Techno?
hopham - Yes, I do have a bias against trance and hard house. No I'm not pissed about what you said, I don't get pissed that easily. I dislike both trance and hard house and that's my choice, but if you or anybody else like them that's fine. But when you say that I tried to dig into every...- innocentbystandr

Dance music. The best way to educate yourself about the different forms of dance music is to start downloading live sets and listening to them. Yeah, mp3's don't sound as good as CDs. But what DJ's mix in studio or live can sound like two different things. Live sets are best way to stay on...- innocentbystandr

How good was Miles Davis “Birth of Cool”?
I don't like Birth of Cool nearly as much as Kind of Blue or Round About Midnight. The latter two albums were done in a hard bop style, whel Birth of Cool has more of a swing jazz type sound. If you're expecting another hard bop album, you'll be dissappointed.- innocentbystandr

hop ham - Paul Van Dyk doesn't play house, he plays trance. There's a BIG difference between the two generes and I think it's a mistake to group him in with other house DJ's. James Zabiela plays tech-house. I still stand on my statement about the word 'electronica.' It has to be one of the...- innocentbystandr

Anyone into Techno?
I've noticed that a lot of the people on this forum use the words "techno" and "electronica" interchangeably - franky it's annoying. But I know I'd look like a music snob if I pointed it out on every single thread that makes this faux pas. Another thing I'd like to point out - nobody that...- innocentbystandr

Best Earbuds?
I have a pair of the MDR-E484's that I purchased new a long, long time ago. I haven't been able to understand why people like these so much; I think they're good, but I guess I don't like them as much as some other people do.- innocentbystandr

Reciever with decent/good headphone out?
I purchased a Marantz 2215 after reading all of mkmelt's posts in praise of vintage Marantz amps. Granted I haven't had the opportunity to experience a wide spectrum of high end equipment, but at this point I'm really happy with the amp paired to my HD 600's. I purchased it for only $26.00 on...- innocentbystandr
