I'm planning to try balancing the replacement HD650 cable, to try the balanced out on my emu 0404. (Basically 2 TRS > 650 plugs) Before I go ahead and solder my wires incorrectly, could someone kindly check over my plan to make sure I don't make a fool of myself. I've read this thread for...- empty265

How to punish ebay seller????
I suppose the best thing now is to provide paypal with all the evidence that supports your claim, since it's more/less established that your seller is trying to screw you over. Make sure you have the delivery confirmation of the returned item, as the seller can claim they didn't receive it...- empty265

Balanced cable for Sennheiser
Thanks for the link It seems from the diagram, the thin pin corresponds to the +ve, and the fat pin to the -ve Which seems to match the unbalanced setup where fat = ground. Thanks again for your help.- empty265

hd580/600 polarization
Since I'm search-challenged (spent 2+ hours without results), I'll ask this question in this relatively related thread. Can anyone tell me the +/- polarity of the HD600 headphone connector (i.e. Is the 'fat' plug the hot pin? Or is it the inverse?) Also, if someone would teach me...- empty265

I want a usb dac??????
What headphones are you planning to get? Depending on your headphone, you might need a headphone amp. (Though you'll want one eventually) If that's the case, you might want to concentrate on your amp, and get a budget USB DAC/transport. Alternatively, you could get an all-in-one, which...- empty265

Buying Cable Materials in Canada (Toronto)
You could try the stores listed in this thread: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f6/lis...r-help-267968/ They might not have the audiophile cables that you're looking for, but to most of the stores do carry the basic materials to make your first few sets of cables. If you feel that your EQ...- empty265

HELP ASAP, Replacing Broken Plug
Haven't done the item specific repair before, I'm guessing that the procedure shouldn't be all that different from connecting a wire while making an interconnect. The thread is here: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f6/how...ep-pics-50729/ Before you attach the plug, you might want to make...- empty265

What Piece of Gear did You Blow Up Lately?
I blew up my Creative X-mod the other day while building my first cMoy Accidently let the audio signal touch the V+, the next thing I saw was "USB device not recognized" On a side note, I also trashed my Belkin Tunebase while trying to add an antenna to the unit. Accidently let the...- empty265

Shouldn't a cross-feed make a difference?
Alternatively, you can use a sound generator such as NCH, and check the crossfeed using a set frequency. If everything is working properly, the crossfeed should be present at low frequencies, and slightly attenuate at you increase the 'pitch'. In case you need to download a tone generator...- empty265

problem } my external hard drive is jammed. any help?
^ Second the remove the enclosure solution I've had that happen more than once, and it's become my source of internal hard-drives. (If it's the enclosure, the computer will sometimes give the 'USB device not recognized' error) *** If there are any signs of burns on the actual...- empty265

Would love to hear from diy'ers of Senn 580/600/650
Try this link from apuresound: APureSound - Where The Music Is Always Pure It goes through removing the foam pad in front of the driver, as well as the foam at the back. Keep in mind, the foam removal at the back is semi-permanent, and it is very hard to put the foam back in once...- empty265

PA2V2 I just purchased!
Does anyone know what features the most current PA2V2's have right now? The site doesn't seem updated, and yet I hear that there were 'several improvements'.. Does it justify the eBay prices of $60-100? Or should I just go for a caffeine ultra / lyrix / something else? (I'm probably just...- empty265

How do you tell if your headphones *NEED* an amp?
Apologies if this is a threadjack, but I also have a question about whether I absolutely NEED an amp. Currently I'm using an HD580 on my laptop, using the Creative xmod as a DAC (OMG, the horrors... Or so some would say...) I know for a fact that I can turn the volume up to the point...- empty265
