before I buy myself a new pair of Yuin pk2s..
are there any other earphones you'd recommend? I've been a bit out of the loop for a while now, so i don't know if there's anything new out there. I don't really like canal phones, or want to use an amp, and would like to be forking out a similiar price ($80usd) cheers- cowpat

Good quality (free) CD Burner??
hey folks, i'm making a couple of mix CDs for my buddies at the moment. However, when i burn them on iTunes they sound pretty terrible, flat and lacking definition. So are there any good free burners out there that will provide something more accurate? Some non-degrading normalisation would be...- cowpat

Headphones for the "fashion conscious"
hey folks, my sister has come to me asking for a headphone recommendation. Now, she's quite a fashion conscious young thing, and said she was interested in the WeSC Bongos - having done a little research it would appear that the sound quality of these is poor, though they do look quite stylish...- cowpat

Portable headphones for the discerning gentleman
I'm in the market for a new pair of headphones to wear at work and out/about. Unfortunately my Nuforce UF-30s have started to cut out at the headphone jack (my second pair) so i'm looking for something different, but not too far away from the UF-30s. So small, over the ear (not around), sub...- cowpat

Microphonics - are all IEMs/canalphones this bad?
i recently bought myself a pair of Head-Direct RE2s because i desperately needed some quiet phones for my quiet office. And whilst i'm happy with them in terms of sound quality, the amount of noise you get from the cable moving around is absolutely ridiculous - it makes listening to any sort of...- cowpat

the nature of VBR
does anyone else think there's just something a bit wrong about the idea of VBR? Having an unthinking computer decide whether something "deserves" to have a higher bitrate, and so constantly flicking between many different levels of quality? Does anyone take a stance against it, or has anyone...- cowpat

Office Headphones
i've been listening to iGrados in my (very quiet) office recently, and i'm pretty sure all of my co-workers are on the verge of attacking me - basically, i need some isolating phones I'd be willing to spend about 50-60 GBP, so ER-6is and UM1s and Denon C551s are kind of within the limits...- cowpat

Cheap iPod Docks/Speakers?
hello all my sister is getting herself an iPod Touch for her birthday, and she wants me to buy her a speaker dock for it. It's not my area of expertise at all, and although she's not too bothered which one i get i'd like to buy her a decent one with reasonably good sound quality I want to...- cowpat

Best settings for EAC? (noob alert!)
Hello all i'll be getting myself a Sansa Clip in the near future to replace my iPod, but i'll have to encode all my CDs again in mp3 rather than AAC. So, after looking through some past threads on the topic it seems you all love EAC, but as a person brought up on the dumbed down iTunes...- cowpat

i'm looking for an AAC compatible mp3 player (which is cheap)
my iPod just died and i'm looking for something to replace it. I can't really afford a high capacity player at the moment, so i was thinking about maybe getting one with a 2 or 4 gig capacity. Obviously my primary concern is sound quality, and since all my CDs have been encoded in AAC i'd prefer...- cowpat

burning mix CDs at an equal volume
i've been trying to make a few mix CDs for various people, but i'm constantly running into problems when trying to gte the volumes on all the tracks at the same volume. As i'm sure you all know, a lot of older CDs are mastered a lot quieter than brand new ones, so when i'm trying to mix up old... -
recommend some in-ear headphones for a young, fashionable lady
hey guys! I've been perusing this board for a while now (and have you to thank for purchasing both my KSC-75s and Alessandro MS-1s), but this is my first post. Here goes.. Basically, my little sister has asked me to get her some headphones for her birthday (to go with an iPod she's getting)...- cowpat
