I'm a BlackBerry addict...
Very strange. I updated the OS on my BB 8310 to the latest 4.5 version. The browser is much better on this now. But I no longer have a camera icon on my main screen. I can get to it by setting the left or right shortcut buttons to bring it up but there's no icon anywhere to put on the main...- BobMcN

I'm a BlackBerry addict...
I just updated my BB 8310 with the new 4.5 software. I have to say this made a nice difference in the browsing experience. I can't say it changed anything else in the performance of the phone, as far as I can tell.- BobMcN

Woo Audio WES - Love at first sight!
Wow, I thought my newly completed Mini-Max looked cool with its LED lit tubes. I'm extremely jealous. That Woo is gorgeous and I'm sure it sounds better than it looks.- BobMcN

I also just resurrected this priceless (sic) beauty by putting a new battery in it. Of all the watches I own I get more comments on this one than anything else.- BobMcN

Best Porcupine Tree Studio Album?
I have to say that if I were to have to vote for the one album I like best, it would be In Absentia. But you asked which was their best studio album, which means special effects and atmosphere and such. In that case I voted for The Sky Moves Sideways. Maybe I misread your intention? -
New Millett Hybrid MiniMAX (what happened to this thread?)
Finished my MiniMAX this past weekend, so I can finally join the club! It's got about 30 hours of burn in on it right now and has opened up very nicely. I'm using 12AE6 tubes with my HD-600's, and have the 2SC3422 / 2S1359 transistors. No need for any pictures since it looks just like any...- BobMcN

Watches - another passion of ours, it seems...post your pics!
I just resurrected my dad's vintage Omega manual wind-up watch. I just have to remember to wind it every day (not an easy trick for those of use used to batteries) since it's only a 24 hour spring. It's also engraved for his 40 years of service with AT&T, so it has some sentimentality. It...- BobMcN

opamp vs none opamp dacs??
There are different types of DAC's and different types of output stages. NOS (non-oversampling) tend to do something simple, like just using a cap as an output stage. These can sound very smooth, but tend to get congested on complex music and don't necessarily have any kick to them...- BobMcN

Watches - another passion of ours, it seems...post your pics!
I just found this site from another watch discussion elsewhere and I wasn't sure if you guys knew of it: Poor Man's Watch Forum www.pmwf.com Some very cool watches on there for not all that much, but their top 20 lists seem to be dominated by diving watches rather than dress watches. I do...- BobMcN

How important is room interaction for speakers?
Room-speaker interaction is probably 90% of the audiophile problem. The rest is component matching. But even if you're listening nearfield you will have to worry about speaker positioning, proximity to the front and side walls, and maybe some dampening behind the speakers themselves. Of course... -
Chris Botti
His albums always sound good and the music is ... nice. Smooth jazz, nothing overreaching, but a good tone. Good for background music IMO. In concert he is boring as hell. I saw him live and his backing band ate him up. All he did was look good for the ladies and play long slow tones. No... -
Enjoy Porcupine Tree; what else?

Help Me Find Classic Progressive Rock:
Well the classic stuff hasn't changed, except that a lot of the old geezers are coming back on tour again But I beg to differ on the new stuff. There seems to be some very good things coming out in the last 2-3 years. There seems to be a bit of a resurgence, which is a good thing because... -
Help Me Find Classic Progressive Rock:

2012
Our regular calendar ends every year on 12/31 and we celebrate and start it over again. I think the end of the Myan calendar should also bring about a worldwide celebration. Sounds like a good excuse for another party. We could even sacrifice a few hundred ignoble politicians and lawyers for the...- BobMcN

Fairy Tale of New York: The Mysterious Dylan Christmas Cover-album
The funniest statement about this album that I heard was that it sounds like the local derelict street drunk walked into the church and started singing with the choir. I have to agree that left a smile on my face as I was listening to excerpts. You have to be a real Dylan fan to like this... -
MUSIC or SEX: which would you give up?
Now that's a really good question. Are we trading one for the other on an equal time basis or is it "no more music for you, ever" vs. "no more sex ever"? I listen to music every day, but sex doesn't happen nearly that often. If it's an equal time opportunity I agree with geoges. Give me one... -

Burson Audio Audio Buffer/Headphone Amp Combo

Porcupine Tree - "The Incident"
Yup - big difference listening to this album on the main rig vs headphones. It comes to life in open air, like the live show.
