    Fostex new RP headphones - T50RPmk3, T40RPmk3 and T20RPmk3

The Mk2 were priced as follows...   T50 - $149.00 T40 - $119.00 T20 - $99.00   The price remained this for a long time, but just before the line was discontinued, the 40 and 20 models edged up a bit.   The old T20 is still available while supplies last at $119.00.   As far as I know...

    Fostex new RP headphones - T50RPmk3, T40RPmk3 and T20RPmk3

For those of us in Canada, AVShop.ca has them in the pre-order stage for $179.00 Cdn (T50RPmk3).  They are also showing an identical price for the 40 and 20, although I'm sure they'll fix that soon enough.   It certainly looks like a lot of headphone value at $179.00!  But that efficiency...

Fulla (by) Schiit - News, photos, thoughts, impressions, etc.

+1   However, I'm going to wait until Schiit comes out with the Fulla v.2, and stick with my FiiO for now.  The Fulla with all the wrinkles ironed out will be an awesome product worth waiting for.   Allen

The FiiO E10K--all-new DAC and amp stages

Thanks for your two cents!  Always welcome!   Well, I have read a lot of information from many sources online, and I gotta tell ya, it is a little overwhelming for me.  I started from the ground up again, downloaded the FiiO ASIO file and installed it.  Tried that and found it did little if...

Foobar wasapi 3.0(push) changes the headphones sound

Interesting info here for configuring WASAPI for different media players...   https://emotiva.com/resources/updates/Configuring_WASAPI_Mode_in_Audio_Players.pdf   Hope this helps.   Allen

The FiiO E10K--all-new DAC and amp stages

Ok, I get where you're coming from.  And if that's the case then I'm ok going this way instead of with ASIO or WASAPI.   But you know what's confusing to me?  Why is that when you go into "Sound" under "Control Panel" on your computer, select the E10k, click on properties,  click the...

The FiiO E10K--all-new DAC and amp stages

Agreed!   There are so many variables to consider and so many options to navigate.  It is no wonder that my kids stick with their smartphones and supplied ear buds and call it a day!  Optimizing sound quality through computers and DAC/Amps is not for the faint of heart!   Allen

The FiiO E10K--all-new DAC and amp stages

You have to keep in mind that the last thing the FiiO "sees" is the output stage of Foobar2000.  Of course this changes if one is using a different media player to listen to their music.   I don't really know what you mean by "Windows Mixer".  I have the E10k properly set up in the Sound...

So then he would have to remove the tape and re-apply it everytime he wants to adjust the volume level?  This seems impractical.   Allen

The FiiO E10K--all-new DAC and amp stages

Well, we're talking about two different things here.  First in Windows I have the E10k set up to accept all file resolutions up to and including 24/96 kHz (but not 88.2 of course).   But Windows doesn't decide on the file resolution being passed on to the FiiO.  It is the output section of...

The FiiO E10K--all-new DAC and amp stages

Thought I would share this response I received from FiiO Customer Service.  I asked them if there was any way to know the exact bit rate and sampling frequency the E10k was processing for a particular file.  As an example I gave a 24/88.2 file being played, and whether it is being downconverted...

The FiiO E10K--all-new DAC and amp stages

Correct, but if you configure the output of the media player you are using (Foobar2000 for example), it will automatically choose an appropriate file resolution that the FiiO does support (48 or 44.1 kHz for example).   Also, using the included Resampler (PPHS) in Foobar or downloading and...

The FiiO E10K--all-new DAC and amp stages

For changing the settings I've described on Foobar2000 you first open it, then click "File" then "Preferences" then "Playback".  This will bring up the "Preferences: Playback" screen.  From there you can set the ReplayGain settings to "none" simply by choosing this option from the drop-down...

The FiiO E10K--all-new DAC and amp stages

Well, I had some time on my hands, so decided to try what others have suggested on this site / thread regarding my E10K using Foobar2000.     I was using it without WASAPI or ASIO, and just setting it up on the output to automatically match the bit-rate / sampling frequency to the FiiO.  ...

http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=103&cp_id=10303&cs_id=1030307&p_id=12560&seq=1&format=2   The link above is to a USB Micro cable several steps above the one supplied, and for the princely sum of $5 Cdn.  Compare its build quality and features to that of the one supplied with the...

The FiiO E10K--all-new DAC and amp stages

Well, I looked online and many recommend the VLC Media Player, so I downloaded and installed it, and it works great.  Supports the E10K no problem and is super easy to use.  I'll stick with this one for now.       I may try these set-ups down the road, but right now Foobar2000 set...

The FiiO E10K--all-new DAC and amp stages

Well, it was a power issue after all.  I thought of trying the USB 3.0 ports with my laptop plugged in, and they work.  I guess the other times I tried them the laptop was running on battery.  Live and learn.   Allen

That is so awesome!  You wouldn't by any chance have taken similar measurements of the FiiO E10K?  It would be cool to compare.   Allen

The FiiO E10K--all-new DAC and amp stages

I don't think there will be any sound improvement, I think there might be some sound improvement.   Also, the cable terminates in a micro connection, and not mini.  I think a mini connection would be better, as there are a lot more cable choices in that termination.   Allen

The FiiO E10K--all-new DAC and amp stages

I don't think I'm making myself clear, so I'll try to better describe why I'm looking for a better cable...   The one supplied is cheap.  Plain and simple, and I imagine it won't hold up to daily use for very long, even if well taken care of.   On the plus side it makes a secure...

The FiiO E10K--all-new DAC and amp stages

It's cheaply made, and doesn't instill confidence.  There might be a sonic benefit from upgrading it as well.  It is sort of like the el-cheapo RCA cables that are thrown in with a CD or DVD player.  Getting better ones usually results in more reliable performance and possibly better sound...
