35mm film low light performance vs. digital?
If its a good processing shop they should be able to handle things. In the long run for low light (concerts especially, where youre depending on some one else lighting the scene) digital is the way to go. Either canon/nikon's mid 1k offerings will do things that were very difficult to pull...- zombi

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Nuforce uDAC USB DAC AMP with line out and S/PDIF out
I dont get any "boominess" out of the udac, Id actually like some of that . For me the udac, is bright and punchy. Not really warm for me it thins out the lower mids and bass a bit too much. At times it can be thin and grainy especially with horn instruments. Anybody else notice this...- zombi

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Nuforce uDAC USB DAC AMP with line out and S/PDIF out
Using the uDac with HD650s the forwardness is there. At times its a bit much, anything with a lot of horns can test your limit Its also pretty bright. That being said the issue of punchiness and brightness and if its too much is just going to boil down to personal preference. However Im not...- zombi

New Sennheiser HD600's: The first few hours
There are a lot of people in both tube and ss amp camps for the HD650, I've always had ss amps so I can only speak to how they effect them. Im digging my c2c with them a lot. Tube may be a great way to go, especially for the price (its not too much of a risk). As for EQing, theres nothing...- zombi

New Sennheiser HD600's: The first few hours
I think the sharpness and brittleness is a result of result of the uDac. Hell it made my HD650 sound brittle and thats tough.- zombi

Alternatives to Grado SR325i
Amping the 650s has been interesting. I had been using a vintage, well 80s, Onkyo stereo receiver for a few years. With the HD650s they sounded super warm, recessed a bit in the upper mids and highs. Basically dark like everyone has said. Having just purchased an audio-gd c2c from a forum member...- zombi

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Nuforce uDAC USB DAC AMP with line out and S/PDIF out
Having been using it and getting acclimated to its sound, its definitely a fine product. A little punchy for my taste, but certainly not bad. If youre low on cash, space, or if you move around much its great.- zombi

Alternatives to Grado SR325i
Awesome, enjoy! Having had been a grado person for a long time (sr60s and sr325i) and feeling like I was missing out on a good chunk of the body in the music I purchased the HD650s. Have not looked back since. Honestly I dont know how to feel about grados. The 325i is a decked out, aggressive...- zombi

Completely overwhelmed newbie here
First question would be what is the real quality of the audience recordings? That is a totally unknown world to me. Are they done with cassette recorders held up? Or are the band/stage/sound guys involved? If it really is 90% of what youll be listening to Id be apprehensive about giving...- zombi

The Loudness War - your experiences
Its a depressing moment of what seems to be a trend that will come to an unfortunate (for us) end. The differences in releases from even 5 years ago to now can be shocking. And its not relegated to music which is intended for top 40 charts (this is what kills me). Just got a new cd from my... -
