    Resistance/Impedance modifying cables

Yeah, I'd assume that the cable would be more or less an attenuator, though I feel like there is a possibility that it may be a more complex circuit than a simply resistive attenuator; it more than likely has a complex ladder or resistors or something optimized for changing the sonic qualities...

    Maximo iM-490 review? vs iM-390 ?

So, just got home to find them on my doorstep, and I can say that my impressions nearly the same as Michael_B's. I recently bought the Altec Lansing im716s and the super.fi 3s, and have been doing a 1-2-3 comparison. Keep in mind that the iM-490s haven't burned in, whereas the other two have...

what in ear headphones should i get for up to $100?

I made a couple of recommendations here: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/3576503-post8.html and here: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/3575943-post7.html But those were for slightly lower budgets. The 100 dollar cap means that you'd also have the choice of ER6is, Denon AH-C700K, Jays D-Jays...

Looking for in-ear headphones for my Zune

I'd say that 160 is a little low (though the majority of my library is in 192, so I can't talk for much), but good enough to justify the purchase. At least its not 128 or below XD You may want to try to upgrade your library over time...burn any CDs in OGG or flac, etc.
