Quote: I've heard that Totem originally used Dynaudio drivers but switched to other manufactures awhile ago. The only info I found regarding the drivers is from a 2001 Stereophile review, not sure if this applies to new models.   "The Forest is a two-way, floorstanding tower...

Here are some pics of the clocks in my Hiface. Not sure anyone has done macro shots yet. When I get some free time I will try an A/B test with SoX upsampling to 48khz.

    HiFace, sensitive information

Quote: I would like to mod it but I don't have the skills to pull it off without butchering the unit, heh. I was hoping someone in the USA was going to provide mods similar to JKeny. I may just ditch the Hiface and go with something else entirely.

Dacmagic Hype...Or is it just me...

How are you connecting the DacMagic to your PC? Are you doing an A/B test by switching from the analog to digital out on the X-Fi? If that is the case you are still relying on the X-Fi to send the DM a clean signal. If you're using the USB input on the DM you are getting a lot of jitter which is...

Corsair HX850 or HX750 "The load testing results for the Corsair HX850W were some of the most impressive we have seen overall to date. These results were very impressive when considering all units on the market and really stood out when compared to Corsair's value TX850W entry and other CWT...

    Noob speaker question

You can get some highend active monitors from brands like Dynaudio & Focal. It all really depends on your budget. Check out the Focal Professional Solo 6 Be or Dynaudio BM15a and the AIR series. I've always prefered passive speakers in my system. I like being able to swap out amps/speakers to...

what are some nice looking bookshelf speakers? <$500

The Paradigm Studio 10's retail for $800 which is a considerable step above the 400-$500 price limit set by Koven. On a side note I would suggest that one doesn't buy speakers purely on aesthetics. A lot of those budget speakers are just putting lipstick on a pig. You may get a nice finish...

    Best software

Another vote for JRiver Media Jukebox 12. It has support for flac as well as ASIO output. Its a great middle of the road player between Itunes and Foobar 2000 in terms of ease of use and sound quality/functionality (for Windows OS)
