Thank you, DeJaVu! I feel like you posted this before?

    The Qudelix-5K thread

I found another phone that has never had the Qudelix app. Installed it and tried to manage the Q5K. It doesn't work. This device cannot be managed by Android at all anymore, from any phone. If someone finds themselves in a similar situation, keep in mind the v3 upgrade is a one way trip from...

    The Qudelix-5K thread

Thanks again, Kalibri. The primary takeaway, for me, is a stark realization of how much I would miss the Q5K if I no longer had it. It isn't a device I thought about, until faced with the idea of not having it. The PEQ can be replaced with software, and that might be preferable. I prefer...

Sitrep... Firmware back at v2.3.2. Device working. I'm happy. Detail. There was v3.0.3 residue left in the Android app, after regressing the firmware. It showed "User EQ / Spk EQ" and some other stuff that was v3.0.3 style. I was able to manage it perfectly with the Chrome extension. Got...

    The Qudelix-5K thread

Thank you for your civility. I'm glad your device works well. You seem happy with v3 of the firmware so that's great. I'm not screaming for warranty. I just want my v2 firmware back and I'd like the PEQ to work. You've been vague about rolling back firmware. I now conclude you have no idea...

OK. I uninstalled/reinstalled the app and the was able to turn on the EQ again for about 3 minutes before it turned itself off. While it was on, I could tell the sound was different. The EQ was definitely working. Sound was distorted, like it was clipping. Sounded like too much pre-gain...

I really do not like this nor the flames that are likely to precipitate from this post but, for now, I will proceed on good faith. PEQ did not work at all under the 3.0.1. Nothing under PEQ worked. I'm not going to create a list. Nothing means nothing. All gray. Under 3.0.3, I was able to...

    The Qudelix-5K thread

Thank you, gentlemen. I appreciate your time and energy. :relaxed: The Q5K DAC and amp are working fine. The only thing not working is the PEQ. Unfortunately, that is the only reason I need the Q5K. It sounds the same as my phone without the PEQ. I found a GEQ app called Poweramp...

    The Qudelix-5K thread

This is my first post on the subject. I have looked for firmware files and cannot find on the Qudelix site or elsewhere. They seem to be exclusively available via the app. The manual says nothing about back leveling firmware. I upgraded to v3.0.3 and now I need to get back to anything before...

Is there a way to return my Q5K to v2.x.x firmware? Perhaps a guide on the net that Google is not aware of? Any help to get my Q5K going again would be hugely appreciated!

This isn't the case. A 200mW amp will have a way smaller power supply than a 10W amp. That will have profound effect on the quality of the output. The smaller amp will struggle as it gets closer to max output, causing the slew rate to go way up. It may achieve a peak nearly the same as the...

Yes. 10W would be ideal. 3W would be fine for most listening.

Single Ended vs Balanced Battery Life

For what its worth, I like the HMS 3 curve (least aggressive of the curves) and I tone it down with -0.15 of tilt. From there, I add a small amount of bass boost (varies with the headphones) and that's about it.

Single Ended vs Balanced Battery Life

No. I use a PEQ on my PC. The PC PEQ (EasyEffects) is better because it can load APO files from AutoEQ.app. Actually, that's how I find the sound I want. I use AutoEQ to slowly home in on the sound signature I prefer. Once I have that, I transfer it manually to the Q5K. This let's me test...

Single Ended vs Balanced Battery Life

I will share an opinion based on theory and speculation. It would be difficult, although not impossible, to get objective data so this is probably all you will get. Before I opine, let's keep in mind the Q5K has the job of moving power from the battery to the headphone drivers. That is its...

    The Qudelix-5K thread

I think the biggest problem will be heat dissipation. 10 Watts at 90% efficiency will leave 1W of heat to get rid of. That's doable. It would have to be class D with Mosfets but that's not such a bad thing. The larger issue is that Mr. Hypops seems to be under the misapprehension that...

I would love to see a Q5K Jumbo, built around a big battery like an 18650 or similar. It should out out about 8 to 10 Watts peak. Everything else the same: plastic case, 4 buttons, same software. Suddenly, our big planars would be liberated from the drawer beside our listening chairs.

    Radsone EarStudio ES100

I consider it to be more than just spiritual. The designer moved to a different company and continued his work. When is the last time Radsone updated the software? Life moves on. New companies. New chipsets. More switches and knobs... If you really enjoy the ES100, perhaps that is an...

    Radsone EarStudio ES100

Very interesting. I certainly respect your opinion. What headphones are you using with the ES100? My Q5K sounds better than my ES100 on every pair of headphones I own. That includes Sundara, HD58X, and several others. This is with no EQ on either device. I put a ton of time into tuning the...

    Radsone EarStudio ES100

There was an update a few years ago. Its called the Qudelix 5K. I've seen the Q5K go for $89 on drop.com but it isn't a lot more at regular price on the Qudelix site. Happy listening!

Keep in mind, 16 bit can be converted to 24 bit with no loss in quality. Sample rate cannot change without quality loss with the exception of multiples. For some reason, developers could care less about resampling alias distortion. It's a shame.

For sure. Qudelix management software is a game changer. On the EQ side, there are options for android. I prefer the Qudelix approach but AIMP has built in EQ and there are also other options. I have no idea about iOS. I stay away from Apple products because I don't want to develop a gluten...

That sounds a lot like the FiiO Q3 and a couple of other existing portable DAC/amp units. The wheel has already been invented. :) Personally, I find the Qudelix 5K to be a brilliant mix of features and compromises. I didn't love getting new cables but the 2.5mm connector is more appropriate...

I haven't noticed that behavior but mine has switched back to HIGH power a couple of times. it doesn't do it every time I power it on so I'm not sure what's up. It did it last night but I fixed the settings and put on George Benson's "The Ghetto" and entirely forgot about the imperfection. My...

    The Qudelix-5K thread

I've owned the 5K for about 5 weeks. That's roughly 1K per week so I will share some thoughts. - The 5K is much preferable to use over it's predecessor, a Radsone ES100mk2. The Radsone was a nice device but not in the same usability league, despite sounding very similar. - Setting the power...
