Welcome Back to Head-Fi.org. I'm Sorry About the Extended Outage
As an IT person providing IT infrastructure/server support myself, I can fully appreciate the long days and nights you folks have put in to getting this site back up with very little sleep. It's really a test of will and the human spirit during these periods. Trust me, I know the feeling...- TotalDistinction

Why do people use Windows?
I use Windows because I can better exchange data with others and because any obscure utilty that I would ever need, chances are, can be found under Windows.- TotalDistinction

Computer with speakers and headphones
Up until this post, I was using a headphone splitter without realizing that there is a degrade in quality. I'm in the same boat then and like "outmatch"'s suggestion. Now to find the right coax cable connector for my card...- TotalDistinction

Anyone here ever done a comparison of CMSS-3D HP and Dolby HP
Many vendors have their own implementation of trying to simulate surround sound using standard headphones. I have no experience using X-FI's implementation but can tell you that Dolby Headphone does a very reasonable job at simulating surround sound. I'd be interested in hearing feedback...- TotalDistinction

Review: cMoy Headphone Amp Bass BOOST Edition
As a portable amp, does this cmoy have enough juice to sufficiently power Senn HD600's at 300 ohms? P.S. The amp was shipped fast enough but I'm still waiting for it to arrive- TotalDistinction

Dolby Headphone and what sound card to buy - please help...
The OP is referring to the support of "Dolby Headphone" which is a Dolby technology that allows the virtualization of surround sound using any pair of headphones. It actually works quite well. Not all receivers support Dolby Headphone but may support their own vendor specifc implementation...- TotalDistinction

Dolby Headphone and what sound card to buy - please help...
I don't know if this would meet your requirements but you might want to consider the JVC SU-DH1 Surround Sound Adapter which supports Dolby Headphone. It's $89 U.S from Audiocubes. My first "real" set of headphones...I hate this forum... :-)
Thank you all for the welcome. I have no idea what a Stax setup is and perhaps too afraid to ask. Here we go again. Now I NEED to find out what Stax is all about. What time do the stores close today?- TotalDistinction

Final Upgrade - Sound card suggestion
I'm not familiar with the Creative Audigy NX card but the qustion/comment I have is: 1. Doesn't the Audigy NX card "pass-thru" your digital music source over optical to the Beresford untouched? That is, like a line-out? If so, I don't think upgrading your soundcard is going to improve your...- TotalDistinction

My first "real" set of headphones...I hate this forum... :-)
My wallet is starting to bleed since lurking/joining this forum about 2 weeks ago... It all started when I was lead here by "Kool Bubba Ice" via the avsforum (KBI is his name there) on a topic regarding the best gaming headphones for the Xbox 360. Prior to stumbling on that thread, I had...- TotalDistinction

Any B&M Stores in Toronto, Canada Selling Sennheiser or Pioneer Headphones?
Buying high-end gear in Canada seems to be a challenge where it *appears* that you have to buy everything online for anything worthwhile. When you want something NOW, online buying is not very expedient in most cases. My google and yellow page searching hasn't helped me either to find a brick...- TotalDistinction
