The non-musical, very neutral studio headphones
I don't really grasp what 'neutral' sound means. Considering we all have different perspective of what headphones should sounnd, and different aural sensitivity to various frequency range, one man's neutrality is just another man's distortion. If you meant 'flat' response, I'd say dt880 has...- *CinnamoN*

Does The Beyer DT880/250 '06 Benefit From Being Recabled?
If you haven't got your phone yet, I'd say don't rush into recabling. dt880 sounds very good out of the box(provided you got some decent amp), and their stock cable is also of good quality, thick yet flexible. Recabling is quite costly and I would consider such tweaks only after I get some...- *CinnamoN*

er4p distortion graph
from headphone.com Quote: Distortion Products When you put a single tone, say 500 Hertz, into the headphones, you should only get a single tone out. But if the headphones are “non-linear” you will get some extra energy out at other frequencies. These are called “distortion products”...- *CinnamoN*

Portable headphone recommendations
How about px200? They're cheap, small, and decent sounding cans for casual listening. If you really need serious portable gear, I'd recommend IEMs such as er4p or super.fi 5pro. se530 is little over your budget but it is great sounding, perhaps the best IEM I've ever heard.- *CinnamoN*

Corda Move Crackling
I have emailed Jan about this issue(and some others) after I experienced same problem. Here is the response I've got from Jan. Hope this helps. Quote: > 1. The amp gives static noise when I rotate the volume knob. However, there is no audible noise once the knob is fixed in one...- *CinnamoN*

compare headphones in the 200 range? please?
How about dt880? I recently got one from shopping.com ($215 shipped) and it is just gorgeous. Great details and comfort. And while it won't thunder your head, it still produces very pleasant bass when hooked up to a decent amplifier(I use corda move) But you'll need some decent amp, or at least...- *CinnamoN*
