I would also like to add, if breaking in your headphone did have such a huge improvement, the manufacturer would include that in the manual, or on a ReadMe pamphlet in the box. I have yet to see that.

I don't think its possible to achieve the same sound in a closed headphone that you can with an open one. When I was first getting into this I read that in several places, which is why I ended up getting the Sennheiser HD-650's.

If you got the money, grab a pair of HD-650's. I have directly compared the 701 with the 650 back and fourth on songs, and the 650 imo sounds much better than the 701.
