Ferrum WANDLA - Impressions Thread
Yeah this is an interesting point for sure. For me, a perceived lack of bass/sub-bass is something that continually frustrates, especially with EDM/electronica. I've been thinking about ZMF Atrium Closed on the basis that the one thing it definitely doesn't lack is (sub-)bass. But if Impact+ on...- CompetentAccident

Ferrum WANDLA - Impressions Thread
Sounds exciting, @Nomax! Is the major factor for you the spatial enhancement mode? If so that's awesome as it's the feature I'm most interested in, for both HP and speakers, that really sets GSE apart from other DACs IMO. Hopefully there will be some more impressions of GSE coming shortly – I'd...- CompetentAccident

Ferrum WANDLA - Impressions Thread
If you run wired XLR from a DAC/preamp to Buchardt A500 / A10s it will bypass the room correction as that is processed by the Platin hub prior to the WISA wireless transmission to the speakers. (With XLR to the upcoming Buchardt Sub 10 subwoofer I believe you'll be able to use the sub to do the...- CompetentAccident

ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
Ha, yes this is what makes it so tricky! My preference is for open-backed given I don't really need the isolation from closed-back, assuming the bass is sufficient. And certainly my understanding is that AO does have plenty of bass right down until the sub-bass rolloff. Great to hear...- CompetentAccident

ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
Thanks, I wouldn't say that I'm looking for a sub-bass focused HP as such but I have a nagging feeling that I'll miss sub-bass on AO and that will undermine the enjoyment for me with some genres – I'll be thinking "I wonder what AC sounds like with this track?" Although I don't think of myself...- CompetentAccident

ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
Thanks both, yes I am leaning towards AC on the basis that I will be more aware of any relative bass deficiency than I will be for stage, especially since I won't really know what I'm missing from AO's open-back staging as I'm coming from Stellia closed backs. And, in theory at least, I could...- CompetentAccident

ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
Longtime lurker, first time poster! Having read through both threads, I’m trying to decide between AO and AC for my first set of ZMFs. Currently I have Focal Stellia and am looking for a more expansive, spacious, speaker-like soundstage and more pronounced and impactful (sub-)bass. I’ve never...- CompetentAccident
