WESTONE ES3 CUSTOM MADE IN-EAR MONITORS
Hi everyone! I was the one who had the Westone UM2s and I still think they're great, had the chance to hear the UM1 single driver ones and I can tell you that they are very different beasts. I still listen to the UM2s regularly and they are actually very similar to the UEs, the cable design...- TerryKok

Checking out the Grado RS-1
i think John does a little bit of everything, probably more of inspecting and keeping an eye on the production line. imo, as long as it sounds good, it works for me- TerryKok

Checking out the Grado RS-1
i think Grado started numbering recently, probably sometime in 2003? I remember John Grado mentioned to me that they get their wooden chambers from a supplier so numbering would probably help in matching the pairs of chambers. In fact, I didn't realise the numbers were there at all, until I...- TerryKok

Checking out the Grado RS-1
Wow there is a lot of glue on that, I have the number (#5) on my RS-2 which also matches the number on the box but with less glue. Some pictures Numbers could probably help in the manufacturing stage eg. grain or colour matching but I don't see the point of writing it twice...- TerryKok

First Impressions - Westone UM-2 In Ear Monitors
Hi Denis, All is well and I still enjoy listening to the UM2s, after upgrading them with the Comply tips, I like them even better as it's much easier to get a good fit. I will however, be trying out a pair of Ultimate Ears soon as I'd like to see how a custom fit product compares with the...- TerryKok

Oh no, something wrong with my ear! :(
Hi Ed, Don't worry, ear drum perforations can be surgically corrected by an ENT surgeon via a relatively simple procedure called myringoplasty. In most cases, the surgeon basically obtains a soft cartilage graft from your tragus (small notch next to your canal) and trims it to size before it... -
Ultimate Ears (UE5Cs) any takers ?
looks like it has a nice boost in the low frequency though it's difficult to say for sure because the response differs from canal to canal, thanks for the chart!- TerryKok

Corda HA-1 MK II Amplifier - First Impressions
hi andrew! i haven't heard the original HA-1 but the bass on the HA-1 MkII is definitely there. the bass isn't bloated or overwhelming, rather it's just right. i'd say it's a very balanced amp- TerryKok

Walking with Ety 4S
same 'problem' with both my Westones and Shure canalphones, when you seal your canals what you hear is vibration transfered through your body. it's not really loud enough to be distracting but it's there if i listen for it or when i am listening at low levels- TerryKok

First Impressions - Westone UM-2 In Ear Monitors
MrPD, you can order a pair online direct from Westone at http://www.westone.com/ they were very nice people to deal with. Flashbak, I think the warranty for the Elites are one year and for the Universal series, 90 days... not quite as good as the Shure warranty but they have good support so I...- TerryKok

First Impressions - Westone UM-2 In Ear Monitors
like i said, i can't offer a comparison but i do know the UM-2s are very easy to drive in fact, i can hardly stand any more than 30% of the volume on my mp3 player now, and i used to listen at 75% with the crappy stock earphones.- TerryKok

First Impressions - Westone UM-2 In Ear Monitors
Hi Zanth, I didn't manage to spend a lot of time with the Etys so I didn't quite notice the microphonics when I listened to them (wasn't quite aware there was such a problem really) but it sounds annoying. Nevertheless, I am sure they sound great, hopefully that makes up for it. Thankfully...- TerryKok

First Impressions - Westone UM-2 In Ear Monitors
Hi guys! Jap I think the Elite 2s are basically UM-2s with a custom ear mold, should be much easier to get a proper fit with those than the foam tips Ari, I believe the tips on the E5s and UM-2s are interchangable so yes I think they should work. Westone doesn't make the flanged tips so...- TerryKok

First Impressions - Westone UM-2 In Ear Monitors
Hi Jap, So far so good, I can jump up and down or even tap the cable with no problems. Like the Etys however (and possibly other in ears too), you can hear thumping sounds or things like your own heartbeat when you walk around/jog with these while listening at low levels.- TerryKok

Hey Guys! I've seen the Westone UM-2s being mentioned here now and then but I don't think anyone has written up a review of these yet. I just got my pair a few days ago so here's a quick take for those who are considering the UM-2s as your next purchase (a full in depth review will come...- TerryKok

Corda HA1-mkII & CD3Ks 10 hours & counting...
yeap the HA1 MKII only has a 0 ohm output, but with all the cans i've tried so far (HD 600, SR60, Ultrasone), it has absolutely no problem driving them. i am still waiting for my grado rs2s to arrive, that together with the HA1 MKII would be all i need for audio bliss- TerryKok
