no no, AUX line out is not amplified, that's just line out, not pre amp, or amp. Can you tell what is your maximum level for listening in low gain mode when your source is at 100% volume? EDIT - maximum level for SE output

This definitely indicates that my device is faulty, because the volume is normal for me at this level and I can say my hearing isn't that bad. Definitely something is wrong with it. Do you have it on native Windows drivers or the one from xDuoo site?

I have recorded music from spotify using laptop's audio and there also was popping in the file. Then I played this file from xduoo - popping everywhere. Turned device off and on again - relatively clear sound. Downloaded new mp3 file - same thing, weird clicks. Copied this file to another...

both low/high.. recording to local mp3 files using my laptop's native sound adapter. then I'll playback them using DAC, thanks....
