ZMF Verite Open
I had a somewhat similar experience, they just sounded unbalanced to my ear and I had to be pretty heavy handed with EQ to get them to my preferences. The 3k to 4k dip is my "lack of clarity" but other's "relaxed tonality" and the 5k peak is my "treble hardness or imbalance" but other's...- HeadWombat

Focal Clear headphones
If you're on Windows, download and install Equalizer APO then do the same for Peach GUI for Equalizer APO. If you're on Android I recommend Poweramp. If you're on Linux or any Apple device, I can't help. Then start messing around on Squig.link to see what changes you're making to the headphones...- HeadWombat

Focal Clear headphones
Fair enough, that's not a great graph and I did downplay the impedance however the Clear still require less than 0.15 volts at the peak of its impedance hump to reach 90 db which is well within the capabilities of the 5k. That's one of the only places that publishes the FR with different output...- HeadWombat

Focal Clear headphones
This graph shows the frequency response when being used with different output impedance adapters. A high output impedance somewhere in the signal chain, either source or impedance adapter, will cause a rise in the bass. I use a Schiit Valhalla 2 with my Clears. On low gain it has an output...- HeadWombat

Focal Clear headphones
The Focal Clear are relatively low impedance, even with the hump at 60hz, and high sensitivity so they're very easy to power. An amp with a high output impedance will measurably alter the frequency response of the Clears in the bass. Otherwise, sources won't change the sound unless you're in the...- HeadWombat

Focal Clear headphones
Personally, I use a Qudelix 5k and Schiit Valhalla 2 with my Clears. The Qudelix is a fantastic device, decently powerful, good battery life, surprisingly small, a robust app and I just really enjoy having a mic during work hours. The Valhalla 2 plays nicely with the Clear on low gain and on...- HeadWombat

Impressions | aune AR5000 Full-Size Open Headphones with MLD Driver
The mechanical design and build quality looks excellent for a company's first product in this space. They graph quite well and I hope that translates to a good experience when put on actual people's heads.- HeadWombat

IEM for metal music and hard rock - ultimate solution
Agreed, I EQ mine to something that resembles the Monarch MK III. I still prefer my Tia Trio's and Dunu Mirai for most metal though I did listen to BTBAM's The Parallax II: Future Sequence on my EQ'd Gaea's today.- HeadWombat

IEM for metal music and hard rock - ultimate solution
For me, the fit problems had to do with the weight distribution - you don't have a lot of tip options for this with the huge nozzles. The 5k should be fine, I didn't use the cipher cable either.- HeadWombat

No channel separation in 4.4mm output of FiiO K7
Oops, missed your latest post. Good luck, without another source or cable it's hard to say which one is defective - obviously. I really don't think the pin out is the problem here, 4.4mm has gotten a lot more mainstream and you purchased gear by reputable manufacturers. I don't know what the...- HeadWombat

No channel separation in 4.4mm output of FiiO K7
Some 4.4mm cables that I've used had this problem, pulling the cable out of the 4.4mm socket just a hair seems to fix the channel separation. I have some 4.4mm cables that aren't like this with the same sources. I've experienced it using the iFi Neo and Go Blu and Fiio BTR7.- HeadWombat

???Ever Buy a Pair of Headphones DESPITE Negative Reviews???
I found the MG's to be relaxed in the upper mids/lower treble but then a bit forward in the upper treble so they felt a bit dark but also detailed and airy. I really enjoyed them for music with lots of electric guitar. Eventually, I sold them for other gear and later returned to the OG Clears...- HeadWombat

IEM for metal music and hard rock - ultimate solution
The iSine's are awesome if you can deal with the fit, I've owned and sold the 10's, 20', i3's, and i4's, i4's 3 times, because I enjoy them so much but they fit horrible. Also, don't expect to be very mobile with them in because fit. Personally don't like the OG Timeless but I can't speak for...- HeadWombat

Dunu Mirai - A Collaboration between Headphones.com, Dunu and Precogvision
I posted this to Reddit earlier this week but have since made an account here so I thought I'd do a straight copy and paste of my initial impressions here. Unfortunately, I haven't had much time to listen since, so my comments here still stand. I've got the Dunu Mirai in hand, luckily, after...- HeadWombat

Unfortunately, no amount of tip rolling was able to fix this problem for myself. The smallest, shortest tips still resulted in that peak. I even owned two different units because I thought that I might've had some unit variation problems with the first.- HeadWombat

Effect Audio x Elysian Acoustic Labs Gaea - Discussion & Impression Thread
I go a bit extreme in the opposite direction but I'm also going for a very different target than you. Worth mentioning that I'm also sensitive to say 3k and 5k so mine looks like: Peak filter, -4 db, 1600 hz, 2.0 q High shelf, -2 db, 3250 hz, 1.0 q- HeadWombat

I can't speak for the Volur but I find the relative balance of the upper treble to be better on the Trio's than say the U12t which goes from normal sounding in the treble to huge resonance at 17k-ish hz for me.- HeadWombat
