It's kinda strange. The firmware v1.3 from official hiby site (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ZxyDZtPjHwJap6Xj68NZdpXjklEqk7Pf) is actually v1.2 firmware . There is probably a mistake here...

Hiby R3 has no PEQ and sounds kinda meh on it's own. So R3 paired with 5k potentially can be still a compact thing but with better sound and PEQ. PEQ is a particually important thing to me. Otherwise I would just use R3 + Hiby FC6 (or Cayin RU7).

No. Not that wierd. R3 can work with most USB DACs just like regular android smartphone without ADC just USB connection. It surely works with Cayin RU6 and 7, Hiby FC6 and others. I'm pretty sure R3 worked via USB with Fiio BTR5 when I had one. I'm just sure about Qudelix 5K.

gnohp, it's interesting information. I'm probably going to investigate M300 and RU7 interaction more. But I've already find out that RU7 is kinda picky and doesn't work with some devices and USB cables at all.

Hi. I've just got M300 and RU7. I have a similar issue. In dsd64 mode it's better, in dsd256 mode much worse. I think it's because RU7 needs more amperes than M300 can give.
