A lot of people seem to complain about the RS-1x but I have them and couldn't be happier. I also have SR-80's and they're quite nice as well for a lot less coin. Both excel at rock which is probably why I like them so much since that's mostly what I listen to.

My bad. I forgot to say they were RS1x with full round gimbles.

Well I have the XL full round Nyczaj gimbles and blocks on order so if I mess up the pins getting the old ones off, so be it. Maybe I'll contact Rich Grado and see what he says... ETA: Just saw this on the Nyczaj web site - How to disassemble metal gimbals? To do this you'll need...

Yes, I mean separating the cups from the gimble pins on my RS1x. I didn't know they're plastic gimbals and assumed they're aluminum. I'll try removing them as you described, thank you!

This might seem like a dumb question, but how do you get the Grado gimbals off and the Nyczaj ones installed? I'd like to get these but I'm not seeing any obvious way to get the cans loose from the gimbals

I noticed that too when I swapped out the L's for G's on my RS-1x. I hear that spacious separation not only left and right but up and down in each ear as well.

G cushions. My RS-1x came with L's but I replaced them with G's like those.

Gotta love the Grado family. Every interaction I've had with them has always left a smile on my face, be it re: cartridges or headphones.

I just checked my RS-1x. No goop at all on the back of the driver. I wonder if the goop is there to help stabilize the cable? Odd that mine is clean, no goop.

The easier way is to just post the copied link as I described in my previous post in the insert image icon of the reply box. :relaxed:

I always link mine from postimage.org a free photo sharing site. I upload my photo there, click on the image to enlarge it. I then right click on it and select "Copy Image Link" from the right click menu that appears. Then I paste that copied link here with img in brackets before the link and...

Good to know. I recently installed Grado G pads on mine and like them better than the L pads. I also have Grado F pads but haven't tried them yet.

Any consensus on G pads with the RS-1x?

Well we moved into this house a year and a half ago and I claimed that room from the get-go. I call it the music room but technically I think it's called a media room. It's a big house so there's also a living room and a family room that wifey can decorate any way she so chooses. As far as...

My dedicated CD/headphone setup: a Bottlehead S.E.X. amp I built (with all the upgrades) and Grado RS1x cans. The Yamaha CD-S303 is also connected to the main system with an optical cable.
