Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support

Is it possible to find this new remote control on any store or is it necessary to contact the company? I'm always afraid of breaking the old. Thanks

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support

I'm guessing the ET3 is a very niche product for you, but since it's a problem it has had since its release, we're talking about a firmware issue that hasn't been fixed for eight months. That seems a bit too much to me.

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support

I'm reporting this device incompatibility issue with most DLNA apps from last summer on this thread. I've never seen Shanling's representative here say a simple 'We know we have this problem and we'll do what we can to fix it' or 'this problem can't be fixed'. It's as if the problem isn't there...

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support

It may or may not be, it is a matter of personal needs. Before the ET3 came out, I was leaning towards getting a Audiolab or Cambridge Audio CD transport, I would have saved some money as well. I chose Shanling precisely because of its characteristics as a streamer having a subscription to...

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support

That's exactly what I'm saying. The DLNA was part of the initial equipment of the ET3, I'm not asking to add anything. Just to make the one they sold me work. Then, you said it well, let's leave these heartfelt defenses of Shanling to his representative here.

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support

That's right, and then make DLNA work with all the apps like a sub-$100 streamer, the Wiim mini. As I explained to you some time ago, BT is not the solution if you are a minimum audiophile.

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support

I don't know either. Shanling's representative in this thread has never hinted that this problem will be solved. He said for example that Qobuz and Tidal will not be implemented in the official app, which would have solved most of the problems, as far as I am concerned.

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support

That's the way it is, and not just in the audio industry. It can be, after all, the ET3 is competitively priced. Except that it came out in July 2023, we are in February 2024. 'Early adopters' is perhaps no longer suitable as a term.

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support

I honestly don't expect them to add new features, I just wish the native functions, the ones with which the device was born, worked properly. DLNA doesn't work with most apps.

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support

That's exactly how it is. And it's a pity, with a little effort this device could have become a complete player capable of being the only audio source of a system. Instead, it will most likely remain just a very good Cd transport.

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support

I've had it since last summer and I don't have a problematic unit, it's a good device. Just a little disappointed by the firmware updates that have not yet fixed problems on native features of the device, such as the incompatibility with many DLNA apps on both Android and Windows platforms...

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support

It costs 4 times as much, it seems like an unequal comparison to me. I've had the ET3 for about six months, it's built well and sounds good. In fact, the remote control is not at the level of the device, it is a bit of a tradition for Shanling to not pay too much attention to remotes...

I also had problems with the wifi. Then I solved it like this, directly from Shanling support. Follow step-by-step https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Io_OdleRwRSSBVB5P-b2cNohG69UiiWE/view?usp=sharing

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support

when you get the ET3, you could try it and the I2S output with any HDMI cable you have at home to check if there are any problems or not. For example, my ET3 works perfectly paired with an SMSL DAC with a regular HDMI cable, especially after the latest firmware update from Shanling. Up to...

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support

Mconnect is the only app that works for DLNA, bubbleupnp hardly works at all. Mconnect has a problem though, the gapless doesn't work. Even the latest update 1.6 didn't bring anything about it. The ET3, currently, should be considered an excellent CD and high-resolution file player, as a...

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support

It's a shame. I've had all three of the big streaming services, Amazon unlimited, Tidal and Qobuz. In the end I kept the latter, for me it is the best in terms of audio quality.

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support

Qobuz has promised this for a long time but so far nothing. For me, if it worked well with Mconnect and Bubbleupnp, with gapless, it would be a perfect device and I wouldn't have anything else to ask.

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support

Yes, it was clear. It remains a great device. I just think that with a little effort it could come close to perfection.

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support

No, I don't think they ever promised, but that's not a good reason not to since some of their DAPs have at least Tidal. I don't think it would be very complicated to implement these services in the proprietary app. For me the BT doesn't have much to do with the HIFI, I avoid it. Tidal and Qobuz...

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support

They've made a nice product, which sounds good and excellently built, perhaps with the small exception of the remote control which isn't up to par with the rest, but it's a detail. The only thing missing is adequate firmware support for the time being. An update hasn't come out in months, and...

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support

I must have missed the release of version 1.6, did it come out recently? I'm stuck at 1.5.

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support

I agree, they could do more. I took it on faith, given Shanling's long experience with CD players. I took a look at Schiit's website, it doesn't seem to have anything extraordinary, on the contrary. For example it does not have I2S output. And it costs almost double. The ET3 honestly sounds...

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support

When you try to update without a USB drive, you get a warning from the device you're using that it can't find the udisk. Already here you should have a suspicion. Then, when you are told over and over again by those who have been using it for months and even by the manufacturer of the device...

Shanling ET3 - Dedicated Digital CD Transport, With USB Drive and Wi-Fi Support

Exact. It doesn't seem complicated to me to connect a USB flash drive to the ET3 and easily do the OTA update via WiFi. Because the ET3 *has* the OTA update, I have done two since I have this device and always via wifi. There's a bit of confusion here today.
