Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

I didn’t compare them directly, but I think they’re pretty close. Neither is as isolating as traditional IEM designs; both more isolating than AirPods. Both provided some isolation without music playing, and outside noise didn’t bother me much with music. Probably depends mostly on how well each...

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

Yeah, I think they're a substantial step up in sound from the AirPods. Lots more detail/clarity. I like the balance/tuning of the RHA more too—for me (people's impressions of the AirPods seem to differ a good bit depending on fit), the AirPods are bloated in the mid/high bass, and lack some high...

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

I had the TrueConnect and liked them. No connectivity problems, and I liked the sound quality better than the Jabra as I found them better balanced (more bass and smoother in the highs). Ultimately I found them a little uninvolving vs. the Sennheiser (which, obviously, is a substantial step up...

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

I plugged mine into the USB-C charger for my MacBook (via a C-toC cable) and it charged, no problem.

JH Audio JH-13 PRO impressions thread

Could be a fit issue—if one side fits a little better than the other and seals more, it can sound louder.

Sonic Satori - HRT Levels the Field with the MicroStreamer

DragonFly 1.0 or 1.2? If it's 1.0 I agree with you, but I think the 1.2 beats the microStreamer.

Sonic Satori - HRT Levels the Field with the MicroStreamer

I would have liked to include it, but it wasn't available in time. Sorry. I wish I could just include everything.

Sonic Satori - HRT Levels the Field with the MicroStreamer

I forgot to mention above, that's the new 1.2 DragonFly, not the old 1.0—nit sure if we're making the same comparison. It bought the microStresmer did top the v1.0 DragonFly. Thanks for the kind words.

    HRT Microstreamer or Audioengine D1

Thanks guys for the kind words. I put a lot of work I to it :-) Thanks! I'd pick the microStreamer over the D1 too. But both the D1 and D3 are good products. They just didn't win out in my opinion. Dragonfly 1 is $99, but I think that's just until stock runs out. Some places on Amazon still...

Sonic Satori - HRT Levels the Field with the MicroStreamer

Hi guys. I think I mentioned earlier in the thread that I was working on a big review of a number of USB DACs, microStreamer included:    - Audioengine D3 - Cambridge Audio DACmagic XS - HRT microStreamer - CEntrance DACport - AudioQuest DragonFly v1.2 - Meridian Explorer - Arcam rPAC (not...

JH Audio JH-13 PRO impressions thread

How do you remove it, with nail polish remover? (I had assumed that wouldn't work since the earpieces are acrylic as well.)

List of DACs that work with iPad

Are you on iOS 7? I got 24/96 to work under iOS 6. Under 7 it appears to work but the audio stutters.

JH Audio JH-13 PRO impressions thread

Along that line, I've quite liked the JH13 Pro with the HRT microStreamer and (particularly) the AudioQuest DragonFly. Though I'm curious to see if the Geek and Herus improve on those models.

    HRT Microstreamer or Audioengine D1

Thanks! I'll post a link once it's up on the web. I've got to do some slight revision in light of the new price of the DragonFly, but it's pretty much done. My favorite is probably the DragonFly (I've got the new 1.2 version)—great combination off DAC, amp, form factor, and now price...

    HRT Microstreamer or Audioengine D1

I've got a review sample of the D3—I actually bumped the D1 from my review as this is a better fit with the other models I'm reviewing. I'm not done with my review yet, but so far, DragonFly>microStreamer>D3. I also have the Explorer, DACMagic XS, and DACport in the mix. Should be a good...

New JH Audio flagship! "Siren Series Roxanne"

If you like the iPhone 5 in terms of software, but want to add a small amp/DAC, as of iOS 7 you can hook up the HRT microStreamer to the iPhone 5 via Apple's Lightning to USB camera adapter. Totally plug and play, not power source required (as long as you have the microStreamer on firmware...

Sonic Satori - HRT Levels the Field with the MicroStreamer

I don't have a link for you, but I checked with HRT and confirmed that, unsurprisingly, the NAS firmware is for NAS devices and other "less responsive hosts". I was told that here's not really a difference in audio quality but that the non-NAS firmware was tuned to work best with most devices...

    HRT Microstreamer or Audioengine D1

I'm working on a review of both (and some more expensive models). I haven't done my detailed comparisons yet, but I think the microStreamer is the superior unit, although the extra inputs, outputs, and physical controls on the D1 are certainly a plus. It's a nice unit; the microStreamer just...

    HRT Microstreamer USB DAC

I think it's a great upgrade, and should make a big difference with your AKGs. Totally worthwhile in my mind, as the Microstreamer's a nice bargain.

Topping TP30 or LP-2020A+ amplifier and Pioneer BS-22 speakers

Hi coachclass.    I reviewed a few different desktop amps here, using the Pioneers as my test speakers. The Topping wasn't under review there, but I had previously reviewed it alongside some other DAC/amp combos, so I included it in my tests with the Pioneers. You might find both reviews...

Sonic Satori - HRT Levels the Field with the MicroStreamer

The HRT web site could use a little more documentation about the firmware.    I don't have any information to point you toward. I think I read the explanation of the NAS firmware earlier in this thread, but I honestly can't remember. I promise I didn't make it up ;-)    Anyway, if you want...

Sonic Satori - HRT Levels the Field with the MicroStreamer

If you're trying to use it with your Synology, use the NAS software version.    If you're using it with your computer, phone, tablet etc., use the non-NAS version.    I'm not sure whether there's any downside to using the NAS version with non-NAS hardware, but this should be enough info for...
